I continued to steal Beatles CD's from my Dad:

The Beatles - The White Album
The Beatles - Let It Be (the 'Naked' re-release version).

I also stole from him:

Jean Michel Jarre - Zoolook.

Picked up the new Children Of Bodom live disks today.  It's good but not great. I only paided $11 so I can't complain.  I might go out and grab some Alice in Chains tommorrow..possibly the 'Essential' disk.  I haven't listened to them in quite some time:/

Jar of Flies will always be my favorite of theirs. It's a short, but amazing album.

Evanescence: The Open Door - quite why they need to completely change their style of music every time they release a new album, I don't know. I think they were only really that good on their Origin album - Fallen seems to be an attempt at being as much like a goth band as possible, and isn't nearly good as Origin.

I just got "Of Whales and Woe" by Les Claypool.  I freaking love Les Claypool.  The music on this album is wacky and esoteric, but catchy as freaking hell too.  "Iowan Gal" with Les playing his banjo bass is like bluegrass music on LSD.  "Nothin' Ventured," "Rumble of the Diesel," and "Filipino Ray" are all excellent songs too.

Fantastic album, even if a few of the songs aren't that good.  Still, Les Claypool is very much a love it/hate it artist, even among bassists.  His stuff is truly original and unconventional, but sometimes the unconventional becomes conventional when he's involved.

I dig the sitar and theremin work of Gabby LaLa and Skerik's sax work.

I generally like the more minimalist approach on this album than the band collaboration on 2004's Col. Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains, whose "The Big Eyeball in the Sky" is also an excellent album.
