All right, we are going to use a fan brush here and uh why don't you take some hunter green and we are going to put a happy little bush right down over here in the corner there and that'll just be our little secret and if you tell anyone that that bush is there I will come to your house and I will cut you.

Lana Lane - Lady Macbeth

This is really, really good. The lyrics are a little dodgy at times, as always, but the music and vocals are excellent. The first track is one of Lana's best, easily. Some of the guitar solos are superb, very Gilmour-esque it seems to me.

Got the new Megadeth DVD last night.  Technically it's out today but I know someone at a music store and they let me buy it last night.  It's pretty sweet.  All the videos plus some live stuff and old interviews. I highly recommend it to all Megadeth fans.

Destroyer - Destroyer's Rubies
Antony & the Johnsons - I Am a Bird Now

I got both on my computer. Destroyer's Rubies is more of what I love about Destroyer. The music is brilliant, and some of their best, including the 10-minute title track that the album starts out with, which elegantly shifts through various sections, all the music tied to earth by Bejar's manic and brilliant lyrics. Good stuff.

Antony and the Johnsons is also amazing. It's beautiful, it's moving, it's just great on every level. It totally deserved the mercury prize award. There's nothing really like it out there. It's focused around Antony's striking but odd voice, which is then surrounded by sparse piano, strings, and a few notable guest appearances. On "You Are My Sister", Boy George delivers a suprisingly honest performance; Rufus Wainright croons his way through a beautiful minute-and-a-half on "What Can I Do?", and Lou Reed begins "Fistful of Love" with some poetry and works in some guitar later in the song. The album is dark, but strangely optimistic. It centers around death, but by the end, you feel a sense of wonder and freedom. It's great stuff. Antony's voice may take some getting used to, but if you can get into it, you may be moved.

Hm.  I didn't purchase an album but I bought a concert ticket and was able to hear Nine Inch Nails's new stuff.  I actually liked most of it which surprised me.  The only concert I've been too before this was Lilith Fair since that's the kind of music I'm usually into.  I figured I'd go with friends and broaden my horizons.  I'm glad I did.
