I wonder if the cover's that way in Japan or not. If not, this seems like it could be another in what looks to be SE's current trend to go with a predominately black/dark motif on most releases, which in a few cases bugs the hell out of me.

PAL and JP releases usually are minimalist and white - not too fussed about box art anyway...

This is what a certain European game store is using for box art. I'm not sure if it is official though.

X360 can boast some pretty good graphics... but its not about that! Its all about the bloom!! =D

I agree some of the graphics look dated. But if you notice, it seems to be progressing nicely. Take for example:

into

You can see how the faces and lighting took a leap between screens. And with 2 months until release, there's a good chance tri-Ace can polish it up to an impressive level.

At least, that's what I hope.

Man...I think it all looks good. It doesn't have to be cutting-edge IMO (that's what Final Fantasy is for, right?). Just decent graphics is all I'd ask for. :)

I find it odd that there are no previews for this game even though it'll be out in two months.

It looks like a high-end PS2 game...

I don't know of any PS2 games where the in-game camera can zoom in this close to a character's face:

...and not be a blurry mess like say, Final Fantasy XII:

And that's just the faces.  Objects and articles of clothing on IU's characters are modeled, whereas if you look closely, Penelo's clothing looks painted on and lacks depth since it's just a bunch of textures.  It's remarkable what Square Enix pulled off on the PS2 with Final Fantasy XII, but saying Infinite Undiscovery looks like a high-end PS2 game is a bit of a stretch.

I always felt odd with FFXII's eye looking kinda...grey.

Glad that companies are finally starting to come out with original games again; even if they're not really that original, at least they're trying to be, as opposed continuing whatever series up to the fifth game or so.

On the PS2, sequels have become a testament to using some of the same stuff over and over again.

It used to be fun to pick up a game, and now exactly what you were getting into, based on experiences with previous installments of the series, but after awhile, it REALLY gets repetitive.
