For my buddies on here playing FFX and FFX-2 remastered, two songs from YouTube's Smooth McGroove acapella master:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ptg2bhLcoRY - To Zanarkand

And one more "To Zanarkand" cover from a YouTube pianist I'm learning piano from (via his YouTube playlist), Andrew Furmanczyk:

Now what would be really impressive is that at the end of the song you pull out a paper and it's an image of a tiger's eye. That would take a miracle.

Not as epic as "The Touch" from my childhood 80s classic "Transformers the Movie", but Stan Bush still has some impressive guitar riffs in his latest:

In honor of the new GoT season, which like the rest I won't be watching, I give you this (apologies if it was posted in the past, I usually avoid YT and thus the YT thread, but I do love some BLR)

On one hand I hate it because it just rips on the five best-known anime that have already been parodied to death (I generally don't like when NA rips on anime because while they're pretty accurate, they're also pretty overblown...which is kind of ironic).

That being said, the Ponyo one and Howl's Moving Castle robot mockery are *Perfect*  ...and likely very true. x)

A few ten-dollar words in there that I didn't get, otherwise it's a decent enough review that sounds like 90% of the crap I have to read in school. xS

I found his review pretty bad. For a game that has the positives qualities that I would expect from a movie or a TV series to have, and leave most part of the game (as a game) to be serviceable but it somehow shows potential in a few parts that it could have been better than what we got (when it tries to be a Survival Horror game and in the Multiplayer) says a lot about the priorities of the project.

In the end I don't hate or love The Last of Us. For me the game is stuck in an awkward grey area, and this is exactly the same problem I had with the original BioShock; I appreciate it, but I can't take as seriously or think that is as clever as the game wants me to.

Which is funny because I do agree that those two Japanese games that are said to be Postmodern (EarthBound and MGS2) are (and were for others) actually that important and clever.

I dunno.  I like title for what they do well and often don't get TOO bogged down by the rest.

After TLoU, I hated narrative in a lot of other games because it just felt less convincing and more contrived (or in the case of the JRPG, it felt too much like an anime).  I'm making a bad generalization; but I thought what the Last of Us managed was a perfect portrayal of strange relationships in a strange time -- and it still managed to feel more human/convincing than a lot of titles try for.  I'm not really talking about the bigger plot-heavy cinematics, but just when characters are talking useless or semi-important banter.  His review works for me because it talks about that stuff, but otherwise whatever.  I was more amused the fact it DID sound like it was written by an English Major (i.e.; a lot of the stuff I read in school) than the content of the review itself (which, with all the buzz about the game this past year, I feel like I've heard it all at some point).

The rest of the gameplay is "ok" or "good" at best --- but nothing revolutionary.  But I just liked the experience more than anything.  The gameplay did what it had to, I was in it for the music, plot, and atmosphere.  It told a good story, and I was taken in by it, hell, more than a lot of movies can actually sell the same.

I agree about Earthbound, but I can't comment on MGS2.
