To kill a Mockingbird - Book Report

A parody on To kill a Mockingbird.

The actual book is great and I recommend it to anyone who has not read it yet.

I actually forced my wife to watch "How to kill a mockingbird" a few weeks ago when I found out she'd never seen it. It's classic.

Tiny bit of interview from the book's extremely reclusive author, Harper Lee.

I find it amusing that the racist newspaper the Daily Mail is the one who gets the interview.

The guy is always doing stuff like this. I am kind of happy we basically have our own Ron Burgundy though.

I don't doubt the 'catchiness' of their tunes and the adorable/awesome fashion sense they have.  But the level of fame they're at makes me think they're all billionaires.

...that and the band is about as real as a three dollar bill.

Ah well, catchiness wins the day! :D

Pop music is serious business in Korea.

They run these training facilities there that scout girls as young as 10-12 and then proceed to instruct them in the ways of k-pop.  They'll pretty much just learn singing and dancing (plus some basic normal schooling) for the next 5+ years before they debut.  These training camps are fiercely competitive and only the best actually get to debut.  They take people from all over the world, too.  They want them to look Korean so they look for people of Korean decent, but several members of Girls Generation, for example, are actually Americans.

Of course by that point the record companies pretty much own them, since they paid for all their training and living expenses during that time.  People agree to it because they have no idea at that point if they'll actually be successful or not.  Of course, the record labels don't know either.  That's why they have this system.  They try to accept as many people as they can and filter the best performers to the top.  But since they're paying for lots of people who will never amount to anything, you better believe they take a big chunk of what the ones who actually are successful earn.

It's a strange, strange world...

I kinda got that impression with the fact it's 9[!!] pretty girls performing what is like... ...the most perfectly synchronized dance steps ever.  Something tells me they're picked because they are the lucky few who are a 'triple threat' (they can sing, they can dance, and they got a pretty face).
