Doesn't look like there will be any secret characters...

...But if there WERE...

Who would you want? Feel free to just make random people up.

I vote for Crono's mom. How many games allow you to use the hero's fucking MOM. That'd be tight. Or maybe Johnny, aka "The Man."

I don't really remember many other NPCs...Maybe someone from Crono Cross?

Grandia 3, albeit not for very long.

Chrono Cross focused on what happened to Schala after the events of CT.

I have never played Chrono Trigger on SNES or PSX but I heard nothing but good things about the game. I will pick it up since I have Chrono Cross and it was a very decent game.

Okay.

Code:

CC focuses on a few things in regards to CT: What happened to Schala, what happened to that alternate timeline where the reptites became the dominant species, and what happened to all the alternate timelines where Lavos DIDN'T die.

Events in Chrono Trigger caused the worlds of Chrono Cross to exist.  Basically, that's about it.  Aside from a couple plot connections later in the game, and the fact that the good ending basically ties up the one single plot point left unexplained from Trigger, Cross is a chapter all its own without any of the characters or areas from the first game.   Cross all takes place on a series of islands surrunded by a reef that is mostly unaccessable from the main continent where Trigger took place.  Trigger deals with Time Travel, Cross with Parallel Dimensions.  Both games are in the same world, but with different characters, events and storylines that are only barely connected.

CC is also apparently based pretty heavily on Zurvanism. There's exactly one direct reference to Zurvan in the entire game, but you can see a lot of recurring plot elements/patterns that SEEM like they would allude to that or be modelled after it.

I digress, though. I, personally, would say the game's about Kid.

This brings me to another question, why not do a true Chrono Trigger Sequel then?

With the time travel shit in the game, you could even have alternate type universes.

If Kingdom Hearts can do it, so can CT!

oh? I have no idea what that is, but after looking it up in wiki, i still am confused...

But yeah, what LoneCynic said makes sense - which also means they can create sequels about almost anything and say its just another eventuality of CT's mucking with time and space...

Chrono's Mom?  What would she fight with, a ladle?  Hey, it worked for Lilith in Tales of Destiny. :P

To be honest, I wish Schala was saveable and playable.  She would likely have ended up being your most powerful mage.  Then again, that would probabluy render the rest of CT's story, as well as CCs story, moot.  Still, a man can dream.

I guess there is always Frog/Kaeru in his human form, but I guess that'd be redundant in a way.

Actually, that's a great idea. For the Europeans and the three Americans that haven't played it yet:
Code:
It'd be interesting to have the effects of killing Magus hit in IMMEDIATELY and give more of a reason to kill him. Either go through the game with Magus and Frog, or kill Magus and go with Glenn.

I don't think most of the CT fans actually want a sequel. Or at least, not a sequel. Everyone probably has their own ideas on what the sequel should be about and how the sequel should play, and if it doesn't match that closely, they're going to say it's not a real sequel and that Square's betraying them and all sorts of rubbish. CT's got a bad case of "Fanon starting to outcompete actual canon."

Also, as I said before, if Square makes a CT sequel that's worse than CT, the fans will be mad. If Square makes a sequel to CT that's better than the original, the fans will be completely fucking livid.

I'm a big CT fan, and, as happy as it makes me that CT is getting the portable treatment, I'd actually like a sequel. Can't the guys at Squeenix get the Dream Team back together for another one?

Didn't Microsoft do that (sans Kato)? And didn't they make Blue Dragon?
