Sega announced new Ryu ga Gotoku for the PS3. It`s in the latest Famitsu issue. Supposedly, it`s not going to be RgG4 but a separate game in the vein of Ryu ga Gotoku: Kenzan.

I kind of wonder if it's worth trying anything though. The saying is that the third time's a charm, and both came out in the shadow of the next generation. Yakuza 3 properly belonging to that new generation could be all the change that's needed to make the series relevant.

Sega is not releasing Y3 because of the sales of a PS2 game released in 2008 that was subtitles only. Did they seriously expect it to sell like Gears of War?

It's a wonder they're not out of business with the fucking ass hats running it.

Oh Sega, you haven't changed since the Sega CD days haven't you? Still making stupid decisions, also, Yakuza 2 sold 40k in america and that's a bad number? I thought the first game sold poorly over here too, and I remember seeing advertisements for that.

What a total shame. Months back I've played the first game, and planning to get the 2nd. It was nothing amazing, but I enjoyed it quite a bit, and it is a solid, vastly underrated title. Not surprised on poor sales for being a bit of a niche in addition to bad advertising. Would a simple, low print run, even kill them and just see how that will go? Anything will happen afterall.

Sega might be far from grand as they used to be, but they do have solid games that are not tainted by Sonic Team, and unfortunately, it is those games that get shafted.

Valkyria Chronicles only made the comeback that it did because there was almost nothing else there for people to choose over it. They literally had the platform all to themselves thus allowing word of mouth to market the game instead.

The Yakuza games however don't have that luxury and in fact it seems that aside from VC Sega almost always lets it's experimental titles to stack against the heaviest hitters that they can find.

Sega's already applied damage control. I wouldn't look too much into it though, while I imagine a strong enough fan response could make them reconsider it just isn't smart to rule out releasing a product unless it is literally impossible, or close enough.

Don't know why they don't want to bring it out to a system still starving for a quality games to fill it's library, but at least we can always hope for this to pull a Sakura Taisen V. :(
