Ah, debate solved.

Is Flynn playable?

Yes he is.  Were we actually doubting it?  He's on the freaking cover. x)

That's crazy. They sure love their Tales over there.
Wonder if Infinite Undiscovery will do as well.

Probably not, since it's a brand new IP.  Gamers complain about developers making sequels all the time instead of coming up with new ideas, but they usually don't have any intention in following through on their rhetoric.  Infinite Undiscovery is going to be a sleeper hit.

On paper, IU is awesome, but tri-Ace always finds a way to disappoint me somehow.

I find its usually...if not always in storyline.

Almost all of their games have some strange ass design choices that I find baffling, but I find really fun regardless. I expect IU's going to be the same way. Or if not maybe I'll just be annoyed enough by the story, whichever!

Maybe it'll benefit from the new installed user base. Go Tales!

didn't Lost Odyssey do well? For a new IP and a game on the 360, i remember the sales being respectable (500k+?), tho compared to a DQ or FF, nothing to speak about :p

seems like Tales will do the 360 proud for a day...

The first Valkyrie Profile is the exception. ;)

Anyway, they hired actual story writers to write the story this time: ORG/Ryo Mizuno (Record of the Lodoss War), and Shoji Gatoh (Full Metal Panic) are handling it for IU. No crazy plot twist from Gotanda this time. I hope it does better because of Vesperia.

Shoji Gatoh?

Fuck yes. I love the FMP novels. My interest in IU has increased tenfold.

Same, sans the novels since I've never read them. FMP! TSR is tied for my favorite anime, so I might have to look into this game more than I have been.

Quoting Eusis for no real reason but, did they ever explain how Infinite Undiscovery's battle system works?  I remember watching a video or two of gameplay and it just kinda seemed like Secret of Mana meets Star Ocean 3 (or Valkyrie Profile 2, which I didn't like).

I don't get all this hate for VP2.  Especially its battle system.  I thought it was genius! =/
A certainly large amount of time was put into it.  And seemed like an appropriate next step to 3D-ing VP:L system.  The only flaw I find most Tri-Ace games have in terms of battle systems, however, is mages usually become obsolete to melee fighters (who deal more damage in a shroter amount of time).
