I don't care. I just thought it was lame and interesting enough to bump the post.  It's not a MMO so it's not a huge deal anyway.  My 360 is not hooked up to the internet so I couldn't even participate in the DLC even if I wanted to.

Edit:  apparently in the same link Eusis posted, Some of the DLC will be free.  Hopefully those skills mentioned in the article are also obtainable in game.

Replying to Parn's post below me:  I agree that the journey through the game is the important part.. I still couldn't be looking more towards it.  I'll probably look around other stores by my gamestop until they get it in that morning so I can play it ASAP.  Wonder what time the trucks come in? =P

All I see is a business move that makes sense.  I could understand if it were an online game, or if you had to pay some kind of microtransaction in order to beat the game and see the ending... but this is just a bunch of services for a random JRPG.  Even with the knowledge of this content, the game is still the same as it was prior... there's a start and a finish, and an enjoyable ride to be had.

It does make business sense to offer all sorts of different DLC for a game because someone somewhere is going to be too lazy to max out their characters on their own and if they want to pay the money for it, why not?  So long as the original game is actually worthwhile and isn't such that you MUST get the DLC for the game to not blow, who cares about something that's ultimately added on after the fact?  Most of the time this is about additional content (characters or stages/areas) which some people will find to be a worthwhile addition to a game they enjoy, whereas console games used to be static (whatever made the final cut was it and there'd be nothing more to get from said game).

It's all about choice, and choice is a good thing.

I've started it. I'll probably be reviewing it as well. So far, it is just a delight to play. Makes me smile.

Thoughts?

Not really going to affect my enjoyment of the game as long as the game isn't effected by the DLC, but I still think it's pretty lame.  I wonder if it works on all characters or just one

.....That is seriously fucked up.

I agree, is nice the X360 has this title. =)

The story has yet to "wow" me with its spoilers... but the plot is indeed thickening.  Usually Tales games pride their characters over story.

I'm liking battles too.  A good fluidity to them, even though they're less chaotic and cluttered than Abyss'.

Dice's sig has made me curious...

Is there a voice-over option in ToV? What I've heard of the NA voices hasn't been my style.  Especially after ToTA's great dub.

Can't wait to get back to Louisiana and see if my house and X360 are okay.
House comes first, but only by a little.

I actually think Vesperia has the best voice over work in the series so far.

I agree on the battles.  They are fun, just wish the enemies didn't respawn in dungeons so damn fast.  You WILL be fighting more than previous games.  Thankfully the battles are fast and the loading times are very low.

As for the story, it definitely takes awhile to get anything major going. I'm sure for reasons here and there, reviewers will nit-pick at various things (which I'd probably agree with), however it's such a fun title.  The game is still hard to put down and it's very fun to play.

Other notes: I'm glad ToV doesn't make you learn Artes like FFIX did.  Everyone was worried, myself included, that all the moves were tied to weapons.  Thankfully this is not the case and I like the skill system.

I don't see the DLC being needed too much yet.  On normal difficulty, i've yet to run out of money or really need extra levels (you level up pretty fast in the beginning like normal, then it slows down a lot more).  I imagine some may use the 5 level one on the boss from the XBL demo game.  I don't know much about the game's other difficulty modes (other than normal) or extra dungeons, but I imagine all would be useful on hard mode or any other mode that may be after that.

Well, to be fair I've only played the demo. so I'm judging from that. Just sounded like the actors didn't give a damn about their lines, IMO. Also don't love some of the casting choices.

I didn't think it was so bad as to keep me from playing, just that, if given the option, I might find the Japanese voices more fitting.

Voice acting is great... fits the character personalities perfectly. It's not as melodramaic as Abyss or Symphonia, so the voice acting is a little more level and low-key, but it makes perfect sense for the characters.
