I played Time Stalkers... I think it was called.
I didn't think the game was so ground-breaking.  I'm not to sure how the first installment was; but the second one doesn't make me feel all to awful to hear about this... =/

Landstalker shares very little in common with Time Stalkers. It's an isometric Zelda-clone with incredibly hard platform elements.

The platforming elements aren't THAT hard. Be a man >:|

Also Landstalker had two other quasi sequels: Lady STalker and that thing for the Saturn where you fight bears.

It's been a long while since I played it but I remember it being almost impossible to judge where you land due to the lack of a shadow.

Well, there was the level...

Code:
where you're turned into a dog by the witch.  I spent a good couple hours trying to get past that damn stretch of the game

And yeah, Time Stalkers is nowhere near the masochistic awesomeness that was Landstalker.  Can't say I'm shocked to hear the remake went up in smoke.

An awesome thing about Landstalker compared to other Genesis RPGs is that you never have to grind because you can't level up :(

Also, isn't Alundra more or less a sequel to Landstalker in the same way that Soulblazer is a sequel to Actraiser?

Sadness; I'd never played Landstalker but was kind of thinking I might pick up the remake.

Oh well, suppose I'll just grab the original off the Virtual Console sometime. ^^

It's okay.  Just be careful.  I have fire breath.
