I think something like "I don't think that's the truth" or "I don't trust the source on this" would have sufficed. :P

I'll wait for more info.... it is a little strange, though, that the original investigator has no clue why they aren't going after them, and has been receiving death threats.

Then again, everyone and their grandmother's received a death threat nowadays.
