You're just being cryptic again. It's like soap opera sex. Lots of boring dialogue and when they finally do go to bed, everything's dark and covered by blankets.

I'm sure to the majority of us who are in that broad spectrum of "normal" this looks like fiction, but these kinds of living conditions are the truth to some people that far gone, whether due to severe forms of depression or OCD, or something else entirely.  Truth is stranger than fiction, no?

I mean, if anyone's read Motley Crue's "The Dirt" the description of their apartment in the first chapter will make any reader feel extremely slimy afterward.

And we thought Misato's apartment in Evangelion or Maya's apartment in Persona 2 were bad.

Some commenter said hoarder's syndrome is linked to ADD or somesuch...

I'm glad my ADHD skipped that syndrome. :P Right now I'm feeling kinda messy with some clothes everywhere in the bedroom.. but I'm female! But.. seriously, wow. Ew.

Hoarder's syndrome is linked to OCD, that much I do know.  Extreme hoarders will hoard anything and everything, even used sanitary napkins, and they'll somehow justify it.
