Hideo Kojima confirms a Hollywood Metal Gear Solid adaptation.

I think all of us saw this one coming. With the increased popularity of video game movies, and the Metal Gear Solid series being know for being more or less interactive movies, a MGS live action flick shouldn't come as much of a surprise.

No details about writers, directors or actors revealed yet.

Christopher Gans (Silent Hill, Crying Freeman, Brotherhood of the Wolf) is rumoured to have acquired the rights to another Konami game after his work on Silent Hill, so maybe it's MGS.

In an interview a few years ago in EGM, I specifically remember Kojima saying if there ever was to be a Metal Gear movie made, he'd want the Wakowski brothers (of Matrix fame) to direct it. Here's hoping.

Hmm I remembered that the Wachowski brothers wanted their matrix game to be made by Hideo Kojima, but he declined.

Not surprising. Man I hope it's good. I'm not sure quite how the melodrama and fairly ridiculous characters will work in a film.

I also wonder who'll play Snake. Kiefer Sutherland could work, perhaps Hugh Jackman?

As for directors, the Wachowskis would probably be a reasonable choice.

Hugh Jackman would be perfect. I was just talking to a friend about this.

If the storyline turns out anything like Matrix: Path of Neo, for fuck's sake, NO.

And it's the Wachowski SIBLINGS now, if I recall correctly one of them's a female now.

More like, Quentin Tarantino FOR THE WIN!

Now, this video game movie I will be awaiting with open arms. I pray to God/Allah/Buddha that it fairs well, actually, more than well..exceptionally well.

I agree completely, 10-15 years ago he'd have been perfect.

He still wouldn't look the part, even though he was the original Snake.

I don't know if a Metal Gear movie will be that great.

The game was popular mostly for its gameplay, and the movie sequences were extremely long and elaborated.

I donít think a movie that last 1 hour and a half will manage to catch all the important elements of the game.

Could be interesting anyway.

Eh, I'd say the popularity's half and half: However, MGS2 is infamous for the story while the others are just... Really long.
