There a couple of FF DS titles with 50% off at my local games store so I might get one.

I've played FF3, FF4 and FF12 and I thought they were all pretty good in their own way.  I'd recommend FF3 or FF4 though, FF12 is just a simplified RTS game.  If you've already played FF4 then I'd suggest FF3.

I think FFIV DS is the best FF game on the DS, but if you have already played it on a different system and don't want to replay it then I'd go with FFIII DS. Of course with the GBA slot you have FFV and FFVI, both excellent ports and well worth it.

I actually liked FFIII DS, and I haven't played FFIV DS, but I'm leaning towards FFIV seeing as that I am a huge fan of the SNES version. I haven't played FFXII: RW or FFTA2 either. But i'd have to go with FFIV.

Does Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates count? If so, then that.

After playing FFIII, FFXII: Revenant Wings, FFCC: Ring of Fates, FFTA2, & FF Fables: Chocobo Tales, I would say FFIII is the best choice. However, FFIV is remade by the same crew so that one should be a solid choice too (Been too recent since I played the 2D version, so I'm not ready to tackle it myself just yet).

I'd go with FFIII. FFIV is ok also but like its been said before, if you've played the 2-D version, its not worth it unless you really like it. I oddly enough liked FFV for the GBA..

That's because it's a pretty good game, and that version removed the flaws the PS1 version had.

III's probably the best recommendation for reasons he said, but I haven't played any other than FFIII and FFIV. Do keep in in mind too that IV is way slower in the DS version than the other releases.

Yeah, the slow speed alone made me stop playing the game. I really don't care much for the blocky graphics, regardless of how good they look for the DS.

And the game wasn't so much difficult as it was just irritating.

FFIII has some problems, but it also let's you make dudes that can do like 8-hit attacks while fighting akimbo with swords.

I liked it too. It's definitely an improvement over the PS1 port, not counting the mediocre GBA sound. And seeing as that the original never made it outside Japan, it's the best version to get a hold of, unless of course we come across FFV on the DS.

After FFIV I'm pretty sure the GBA version will still be best.

Get something else.

(IV is likely the best, but the added presentation can make it outright laughable and I haven't played any others but III, but have heard nothing good about the stories for the others.)
