I thought the OST to Super Mario Land was one of the more engaging Super Mario OSTs.. some samples

Speaking of Game Boy, as repetitive as this thing is, it remains an ear worm to me to this day -

Nice!

Here is a track from the Shantae series which generally has pretty amazing music IMO

I loved the first two Shantae games.  Sounds like the third one is even better.  That music is kickin!

Anyway, random VGM...

"Karma" from Ever17.  What an emotionally arresting piece of music from perhaps the most emotionally arresting video game I've ever played: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkvQte7JWpw

I absolutely loathed the game Mana Khemia (including the soundtrack), especially this piece of music that has become a nuisance ear worm for me.  The song is "Future of Dreams" (whistle version).  At least it's better than the Chorus version.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLD8fySAj6Q

The only thing I liked about Mana Khemia was Pamela's theme:

I really enjoyed the game myself. The music is not as good outside of the game but I still liked it. I thought the boss music was decent. I can see how disliking that song could drag the game down for you. It pops up everywhere you go around the academy in some form or another.

Sega CD: Ecco soundtrack.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMFaSuMIEko&list=PLC89930BA5903B838&index=65

Probably the 1st truly great CD soundtrack, favorite is track 6 but the soundtrack is so well done that I bet everyone has a different favorite track. Not too many games have managed to capture a mood of a game like this soundtrack did. The game was probably a 6/10 on the Genesis, the CD version pushed it up to a 9/10.

Artimicia- No one said the random VGM in the Random VGM thread had to be something we liked :P.  To add some kind of discussion merit to my joking, I find that stuff I don't like sticks with me just as much because at least it made me feel some kind of strong emotion.  It's like the old saying goes: The opposite of love isn't hate, it's apathy.  Even when I review games, the most difficult for me to review are the ones I'm lukewarm toward.

Darilon- Mana Khemia is one of those games I really wanted to like, and on paper it totally seems like something in my wheelhouse, but I found most everything about it completely disagreeable to me.  It's my overused dating analogy all over again.

Anyway, some more VGM for the thread... This is "Focus" by ChipZel from the game Super Hexagon.  The game is unspeakably evil, but the music is quite good.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJc5xqu6IP0

BG&E was on at work yesterday. A bunch of excellent Mitsuda-like tracks with some awesome weirdness thrown in.

Yeah not going to say I didn't enjoy BGE OST, because I did enjoy the BGE.

That guy with all the Ubisoft games is pretty cool this one is from Rayman...
