I just acquired the "Out of the Darkness" album by A Sound of Thunder yesterday and I've already listened to it about 3 times.  Definitely a candidate for favorite album of 2012.

Imagine a happy blend of Judas Priest, Dio, Overkill, Paradise Lost, Queensryche, with a take-no-prisoners shot of estrogen laced with jabanero sauce, and you have one of the coolest bands I've gotten hip to this year.

Song of the moment is "Summer" by Vivaldi. Why? Because this summer I'll be swimming neck-deep in punk and metal shows, and at the last metal show I went to, I talked to some of the touring bands about how they play so many death metal shows on the road that even though it's their sonic dietary staple, it starts to feel like eating pizza for a week. You get sick of it and need a change-up. They all said that Vivaldi was the music of choice in their vans going from gig to gig.

I was at a metal show last night, and this prog-metal band from Indianapolis called Draekon blew me away.  They're probably the best band I've seen all year and I've seen more AAA-grade bands this year than I have in any given year I've been attending shows.

Oh man I picked up a copy of EVOL at Magnolia Thunderpussy yesterday. I forgot how good it was, having only like had a torrented rip of it from a million years ago.

I don't think it ever got remastered or anything.

About 3 weeks ago, my friends in the band Mistress had a ton of gear stolen from their rehearsal space.  Today, I heard from them that the thief was caught!  So my song of the moment is "Calling the Guards" by Mistress.
