Frank Ocean- Channel Orange

Very rarely does an album have the air of such an instant classic around it. But this definitely does. Simply works as a collective work of art with beautifully sad arrangements mixed with dark probing lyrics. Pyramids, Lost, Thinking about you, Pink Matter, and Forest Gump are the real standouts.

This whole movement of darker, more disturbing R and B is probably my favorite movement going on in music right now. The Weeknds stuff may be even better. House of Balloons was my album of the year last year.

Because our farewell show was played with Joe Jack Talcum, it's only appropriate that I have some Dead Milkmen for SOTM.

Girls don't really like me
 That's why I hate myself
Maybe it's cause of the way I look
 Or maybe it's something else

Love the Cure and LOVE that song. Agree about the bass whole heartedly. A Forest is another cure song that really stands out bass wise

One of my friends posted a ton of old pictures on Facebook from shows we'd either attended or played the past couple of years.  Good times, but I was also reminded of a fallen friend who passed away too years ago way too young (he was only 24.)  Every time I think about him, this song goes through my head.  I very rarely listen to it because it makes me break down.  But, I think it's an omen that I'm really thinking of my friend now, because I have some stuff happening in real life now where I need to channel his strength and resilience.

The song is "Wasted Time" by Skid Row. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7_W5jNAIcM

I never post in this thread, but I've recently discovered Two Steps from Hell. Their music is incredible!

I've been on a massive Valacar kick lately.  That riff from "Throne of Skull" just bores its way into my head and never leaves.  Yeah, I've been friends with these guys for a couple years now, played tons of shows with them, and they're good. http://www.reverbnation.com/valacar
