The 'cuse area bands I'm most familiar with (through the festivals) and who stand out to me the most include LowKey, Knuckle Burn, Just A Peace, Her Tragic Murder, and Killaton.  And though they're from Ithaca, I'll include Ire Clad.

CrowFest sounds like good times.  Definitely sounds like the kind of event Pool of Thorns would want to play.

I'll have to look into those bands. I don't spend much time there anymore to be honest but I'm around from time to time.
Oh and hey I'll let my buddies know I have a rad metal band ready to melt some faces next time I see any of them.

NP Tom Waits - "Tango Till They're Sore"

I think the fact that our singer is smokin' hot is a worthwhile selling point as well.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1fTbDJiyrM like the way the opening sounds like some riffs by Amon Amarth done with A Shamisen of all things

Janelle Monae - Sally Ride.

Probably a good contender for my favorite song on the new album.

Nevermind, song isn't that good.

It's funny how a good buddy of mine and I have such divisive disagreements yet still get along great.  One of our disagreements is that he hates The Ramones and I love them.  So maybe, just maybe, he'll find this one particular Ramones song at least semi-tolerable.  It's an unreleased track called "Out of Here" from the Japanese version of the Too Tough to Die album.

Ankla - Persistance

Straight up Puerto Rican metal. The combination of aggressive riffs and Latin rhythms has always been divine to my ears. I love this jam in particular.
Too bad these guys never released a full album with this singer (their 2nd). I liked him better than their 1st. Ill Nino wishes they could do it like this.

I've been on another Ever Forthright kick.  This band and their self-titled debut album is one of the most mindblowing things I've heard in years.

My favorite song is "Dispose of your Optimism" but I definitely think the opening track "All Eyes on the Earth" is the best introduction to this original and very talented band.  They are a progressive metal band with elements of jazz and even some deathcore.  Hearing smooth jazz saxophone interludes over some really unique breakdowns is freaking CRAZY!

Will Oldham - O How I Enjoy the Light.

Also listening to the new Over the Rhine album. Liking it a lot so far. Way more than their last album.

My band was at a Halloween party last night and the hosts were doing Halloween karaoke.  Few people knew a lot of Halloween songs so we were on Youtube looking for stuff... when we found this.  I said, "Cool, a Japanese song."  Then my drummer said, "Give him the mic, yo!  My boy here speaks Japanese."  And so I butchered this song, which I only later discovered was a vocaloid chorus (which includes Hatsune Miku.)  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1HjUPU9iNc

This is less a song of the moment thing and more of a WTF thing but uh

CD version of Reflektor is really brick walled and strangely mixed.

MP3 version is fine.

Why? How?
