1UP news story

Now this is interesting. Deus Ex creator Warren Spector's Junction Point studio have been working on a new game for some time, and that it'll be an "epic" Mickey Mouse platformer. Here's a quote in the article describing the concept art:

Quote
Not much detail about the gameplay was provided, but Gamasutra described some of the concept art they saw, giving a good idea of what "Epic Mickey's" vibe may be like. One piece of artwork showed "pencil sketches of cities assembled from junk," and another showed a "surreal seashore invasion," with machines bearing the faces of the Seven Dwarfs carrying classic Disney characters onto a beach. They described the overall look of the game as "distinctly shadowed" and "steampunk."

Who knows what sort of game this will end up? If it takes a more mature approach, that would be great. I'm thinking more along the lines of Mickey's role in Kingdom Hearts.

This sounds like it's going to be for a more older audience, well hopefully there is truth to what I just wrote down. I would really like to see a darker side to the mouse.

Oh yes, this is awesome news.

I'm not a big fan of "American" Mickey Mouse though, but I guess there's no way they'd ever make a game in the style of Italian Mickey Mouse stories from the 90s.

I kind of wish he was doing something... cooler, but it'll probably be badass anyway.

remember that time steamboat willy killed a man in vietnam and had to feel remorse over it in a post apocalyptic new york while also dealing with impotence and the resultant failing relationship with minnie

My first thought was that the market for mature Mickey Mouse is covered by KH. But then I thought....no, maybe the idea of an ass-kicking disney mascot is only getting STARTED with KH. In which case...I look forward to this new game. :)

If it's even half as good as Castle of Illusions, I will buy it day one.  Disney is <3.

Warren Spector eats your Castle of Illusions as a pre-breakfast snack and shits it out in a blazing torrent of fire.

Ahh they should transform him into another Conker!  The innocent little kart/hover/plane driving squirrel from willow woods that turned into a violent, drunken, lustful, greedy, reckless, slothful little shit! :D

That's the only way I can think of an "epic" Mickey. :)

No.

A thousand times no.

Mickey(and in fact, all the original Disney characters) is epic exactly the way he is.  Doing that to him would ruin him.

Hahaha, well I also like Mickey and Disney (you should've seen what was going through my mind each time I unlocked a new world when I first played Kingdom Hearts hahaha) but I just love what they did to conker even more.  =P

I can't totally disagree with you, but to be honest, hardly anyone knows anything about Mickey these days except that he's the mascot for the company.  Kids haven't seen him in cartoons, they aren't looking to see him in cartoons... heck, many of them are unaware he was ever IN a cartoon!  And I'm not just saying this because I think it's true - Disney's actually done research in the past couple of years that's shown these things.

Stop it.  You're going to make me cry over here.  That's terrible information.  I did not need to know that.
