Best Riff of 2008

We have topics for best and worst album, but what about the very lifesblood of what makes a rock or metal album: the riff.

The album of 2008 that contained the best riffs for me was Metallica's 'Death Magnetic'. For fuck's sake there were so damn many that even half of them sucked there would be a shitload of good riffs. Specifically, my favourite is the central riff to 'All Nightmare Long'. It's just so perfectly chunky, headbangable, and a bit silly. I love it so, so much.

Every song on the new Testament album had an awesome riff.  That's the way it should be, being that it took nearly a decade to write the fucker. :P

I have to say though, my favorite riff from a song is the opening to "The Hero" by Amon Amarth.  These fuckers get more brutal with each album. \m/
