Very easily.  There's no game on this fucking planet more overrated than Chrono Trigger.

Honestly though, I'd say that although -more- people put GTA on a pedestal it doesn't deserve, the one that CT fans make for CT is much, much higher.  I've yet to meet somebody who doesn't think GTA4 will be outdone, but the number of people who claim that CT is the perfect RPG and that no game can ever be as good or better than it is staggering.

Persona 4 is amazing.  Anyone who hates on that game just hates good games.

(Although I will agree with general opinion and say that the main story was weaker than it could have been, although I attribute at least some of that to the fact that some jackass spoiled the ending for me)

 Well, I love P4, too, but I also love CT, and even FFVII. It just seemed to be the trend to bash on all the most popular RPGs out there, and P4's getting pretty popular. Give it a few years an I'm sure it'll have it's own bunch of asinine fanboys.

Hey now, some of us genuinely don't like the games.  I hate FFVII because I think it's a terrible game and I didn't enjoy playing it, and I've thought that way a long time before all the cool twits moved in on my turf.

First time here,

I don't know about everyone here but the 40$ dollars is a huge sticking point and probably should have lowered the score a fair bit.  Considering that what you get is what I would want as a VC version of the game.

The main problem with this version is that I don't compare it to the original in fact my basis for any chrono trigger game released past or present is based on the Chrono Trigger Remake fan project that Square shut down.  Well I believe it was in there rights to do this the fact that they did not acquire this version of the game or remake the game at that level of quality, still leaves me and I imagine many others very bitter

The thing that surprises me is the innate (yet hardly ever fully mentioned) back & forth between CT and FF6 fans. No, usually conversations don't come to all-out flaming, but come in the form of one-upping each other:


Newbie: What's a good starter RPG, I've never played one berfore

Fan A: Hey man, I think for a good taste of what RPGs are, go pick up Final Fantasy 6

Fan B: Yeah, FF6 is good, but skip that one. There's this game called Chrono Trigger that came out around the same time, but WAY better.

Newbie: *confused*


Personally, I love both games, maybe even CT a little more. But I find Chrono fans to be much more obnoxious. They act like their title was gipped because it wasn't called a "Final Fantasy" (no mention of the fact that it sold about the same as FF6), and they have a chip on their shoulders about anything Final Fantasy... especially FF6. Also, the Final Fantasy series actually remained around to have a strong future, where-as the Chrono series did not. This is why I tend to recommend new gamers to a Final Fantasy game rather than a stand-alone like Chrono Trigger. Even though I may prefer CT by a little bit.

But that isn't the point, the point is that loud CT fans are about as obnoxious as they come, and it makes feel guilty for agreeing with them on some points. However, I don't believe that FF6 is a pile of dung and should be ignored. In fact, CT probably couldn't have been made (or made as well) without the enhancements that FF6 made on the genre.
