Gaming Journalism has been getting fucked in the ass recently.

The idea of gaming journalism, at least on the interwebz, is laughable.

Most sites are simply copying the same rumours from each other, with barely any actual hard news. It's all about who can come up with the funniest headline and the best caption for a picture to go along with it.

Gaming "journalism" has less integrity than the Weekly World News. Or Fox.

That said, I did like their podcasts, and that huge chunk of people didn't deserve to be laid off.

I was reading the editors' blogs over at 1up, and wow, so sad. I guess at least I should be glad their new parent company isn't forcing them to keep their mouths shut about it.

I like 1up's coverage, so I hope it isn't affected by the change up in the way that Gamespot's was.

Good read. Thanks for that, Professor Gast.

It's a shame all these video game media sites are being gobbled up by corporations, and scary that those same corporations own certain game companies. Oh well. At least we have the trusty 'Fan. :P

Breaking News: Fox News buys rpgfan.com and rebrands it as an FPS based portal site using EVERYONE'S favorite American bad girl PARIS HILTON as the site's spokesmodel / president of hot.

In unrelated news, everyone at RPGFan is fired.

I was excited until you mentioned we were all fired. I was gonna take the money Fox would've given me and bought a threesome with it.

That latest Sam Kennedy blog entry was enlightening. He talked about everything that happened, and then some. Essentially, pouring out his soul. He's a great guy.

Holy carp, ANOTHER new Retronauts already.

I was sad when they were saying the next episode would be Earthbound, even though I wasn't expecting another podcast anytime soon, but lo and behold, here it is!  ON SCHEDULE.

Haven't listened to it yet, but it's downloading as I type!!!

This kinda ticks me off, and not even because of 1up or EGM, it's mainly because Ziff Davis a decade ago was great, they had good content (see Tech TV) had a great name and brand in the internet world....and now because of shoddy leadership they've been a sinking ship for the better part of two years.

For the old skool "Screensavers" fans: Patrick Norton told you so. He left DL.tv a while back because of the stench coming from the ZD executive offices and now a lot of great people have lost their jobs.

Really frustrating and really unfortunate.

Patrick Norton and Leo Laporte were the best hosts ever.  I missed that show a lot when they left.

Sucks about 1up too

Rezzing this thread in response to the start of EGM's rezzing as seen here.

They can bring back EGM all they want, but without the writing staff that made it good...  It's meh.

It's like a pepperoni and bacon pizza.  If you get one with salami and ham, it's not gonna be the same.

...Dammit, my take away better get here soon.  :(
