We've talked about the best music, movies, and games of 2008, so how about books, huh?  What were peoples' top picks for '08?

I haven't read very many 2008 books, but if I had to pick one I'd pick The Watchmen.

Wait, are you going by books you read in 2008 or were written (or at least translated to English) in 2008? Because I'm pretty sure Watchmen's disqualified by a full 20 years. :P

There's only two I'd choose and I still need to read through both - An Evil Guest by Gene Wolfe, and Anathem by Neal Stephenson.

I was going for written/published in '08.  I could disqualify Watchmen, but my copy of the book has a 2008 copyright date and is totally awesome, so I'll let it slide :P

Other than that the only 2008 books I've read are The Automatic Detective and Too Many Curses by A. Lee Martinez.  I have a soft spot for that author and I did enjoy both books.
