I keep hearing this but the servers always get renewed for a few more months.  I would be really upset if they close the servers.  I see no need to do this actually until after the PS4 or whatever it will be called will release.

I need two more chunks of dragonstone to get the max upgraded weapon in that path.

But the trouble is I missed the drop from the two black phantoms that come at you in 2-2 (i saw them running at me, panicked, and got back on the elevator and they fell down. Initially I thought that was slick, but now I'm fucked)

I found all the other "level drops" of the chunks, but that brings you up short.

It says here that they are a rare drop from the big bugs, but has anyone actually gotten one from them? I've been trying for a while and no luck. Should I just hold out for new game+1?

I did exactly the same thing on my first playthrough. I don't have a solution for your problem though.

I did some serious level grinding and boosted my Luck to 14. I got two chunks very quick.


Anyone here 100% this game? What does it take, like 4 playthroughs? I'm looking at what you can do w/ some of the boss souls and take for instance the old monk soul. With that you can make

the insanity catalyst, homing soul arrow or soul thirst.[/color][/color]

According to the wikia page, those items/abilities can only be gotten from a Soul you get once per game! Rough!

More or less. But you also have to put attention to the tendencies for some events to happen in the game to get the items and weapons that you can't get with other tendencies.

It can get quite messy to have control over this things since the game gets harder with each playtrough and playing the game online doesn't let you have entire control over the tendencies for what I know.

I've been playing offline lately. I've done plenty of battling invading phantoms and helping others. I just want to plod along at my own pace and not worry about some phantom stabbing me while I fetch a beer or a sammich

Confession: I was tired of farming for things, so I did the item cloning trick. I also did this for Boss' souls I had stored up so I wouldn't have to replay more than once. In a moment of weakness I consumed a ton of souls and boosted my level to 100~something.

I never cheated like that in a game, feels crappy. All that previous hard work and level grinding is meaningless.

I've been having problems with boss battles in my first new game+, specially with Flamelurker and the Dirty Colossus since every attack that my character takes now is huge I barely have time to heal my character or even make an attack because I'm too busy dodging them.

I don't even want too fight against the Maneater again with the dificulty the game has now.

I don't even want too fight againts the Maneater again with the dificulty the game has now.

Maneaters are insane in new game +, I thought I would never be able to beat them.

It appears that I have to change my truthful spear for the Maneater. Either way, that doesn't change the fact that you could fall from the bridge at any time with their attacks or even dodging attacks.

...at least I have the Warding spell, so that's something. :/

Maneater was the hardest boss, until I found that you can

shoot him w/ arrows through the fog gate.

Thoughts on DS after beating it:

-Incredible game, excellent atmosphere. I like stories/games/movies/books that focus around a sense of despair and decay.

-The in game cutscenes (few that there are) are amazing. Especially the Nexus one w/ the Maiden in Black

-World Tendency is a great take on a morality system, but without online guides it relies waaaay too much on experimenting. For a game where you can't reload a save that's a bad no no.

-The NPCs are all very interesting, but there should have been more story with them, especially with the black phantom versions. I had no idea at the end of world 1 I was fighting a BP version of Ostravia or why. He just charges you and thats it. (I also missed the important item drop from him)

-The bosses are all very imaginative, and I fucking love Maiden Astraea that was a bone chilling fight. But most of them have an easy exploit if you look in the right spot.

-The levels are fun to explore

-I hope they change how in close combat you get pushed around, thus making it easy to slip off a ledge

Most of all it reminds me what I always thought it'd be like if you could "play a videogame of dungeons and dragons" What I mean is the sense of exploration and difficulty, and you get out of the game what you put in.

The artbook has some descriptions of the NPCs and their role in the story, the wiki does have good info of the characters too.

Maiden Astrea and Garl Vinland are by far the best of the entire game though.

Edit: I forgot, did you fight a Black Phantom online or offline with the Old Monk? :O

I fought AS a black phantom for Old Monk and killed the fuck out of the PC. This was fun as hell but bad for my character tendency (which was damn near black before I started killing NPC BPs).

In fighting the old monk I was invaded but died before I got there. I bum-rushed the mind flayer and got my ass handed to me. After that I started playing the game offline.
