You're just being cryptic again. It's like soap opera sex. Lots of boring dialogue and when they finally do go to bed, everything's dark and covered by blankets.

"I am a graduate of Starfleet Academy; I know many things."  As I'm sure we fans all are.

Is anyone amped for this movie? And is anyone particularly saddened by J.J. Abrams being much more of a Star Wars fan and being the director and producer --- a casual fan of the series? Granted, I'm not an Abrams fan anyways (and not exactly the type of fan to say "omg lol star wars suxxxx u copycats!!!!1!!1").

I'm saddened but it's illogical. He's what I would consider the penultimate director for the movie. I thought Cloverfield supersucked. Etc. But this doesn't mean who won't be able to produce good material. I'm still going to see it for the sake of seeing it. There's just been a few things he's publicly said that disheartens me [the length of the movie/Star Wars comment/making it for the general public]. I want fanservice dammit! Nemesis effin sucked. /end childishness

Anyways. I wish I could show the trailer I saw during the super bowl, but this is one I found via YT.

His stuff is hit and miss for me - some of it I really enjoy, some of it I don't.  I hope to like this movie, though.  I have found in my movie watching that I prefer to have my lower standards and find a lot of stuff entertaining rather than expect every movie to be amazing and then be disappointed 80% of the time.

I'm on the fence right now. I'm a fan of the franchise but it kind of looks like The OC in space to me. Maybe it's just the young cast that seems out of place but I hope it's good. Also, the villian seems boring too. Oooh, an evil Romulan, haven't seen that before:P

The cast to this movie is all over the place. I don't know what to think. I didn't like Cloverfield, but that's the only Abrams thing I have seen. I've also never even seen a Star Trek movie. I don't know if I'll see this one, but maybe if it gets decent reviews.

If you haven't seen any Star Trek movies and are not a fan, the only one I would recommend is Star Trek 2, which is one of the best science fiction films I've ever seen, if not simply one of the best films I've seen. It's certainly a personal favorite of mine. The rest of them can be passed up, in my opinion.

And I think I've made it obvious how I feel about the film. I'm gonna give it a chance, but I'm certainly not a fan of the marketing strategy they're putting out right now.

. . . .  Is that really the villain? I can't begin to explain how I feel my brain shrinking at the moment.

Yeah, apparently after the events of the last movie (whatever they were), the Romulan empire pretty much fell apart, and he's a mighty ticked off dude.

In Star Trek X (Nemesis), a human clone of Captain Picard overthrew the Romulan empire and tried to attack Earth (For no real apparent reason, which is why so many people didn't like that film), and of course good guys win, stuff blows up, yadda yadda, we learn more about humanity. I think. Star Trek X sucked.

Cloverfield was a fucking terrible movie.

I'm willing to give this the benefit of the doubt and actually watch it before I complain, because I'm not a Trekkie.

That said, reboots in general are for pussies.

*looks at his copies of Batman Begins, Casino Royale, and The Incredible Hulk*. Gonna have to disagree there.

Sorry, I'm gonna be a total troll about this, but fuck JJ Abrams and fuck his terrible "vision" of Star Trek.

I'm saying this as a long time fan who owns almost every DVD season for all series, even Voyager.  A fan who owns every movie.  A fan who has so much useless esoteric Trek knowledge, he could write a book.

Alias sucks, Lost sucks, new Trek sucks.

I know, I'm being a total troll, but I'm not even going to try and advocate my points, I just think it's gonna suck.

I'm gonna go watch Nemesis, a GOOD Trek film.

GET IT.  NEMESIS SUCKED.

I miss John DeLancie.

He hasn't actually been involved with Lost for years.

I'm willing to watch it, though I'm not expecting much.

I'm going to watch Transformers 2 instead.

Star Trek IMHO hasn't not sucked since First Contact. Seven of Nine couldn't save Voyager from magic (from battleships to Kess's race), impotent borg, and mediocrity, and there weren't enough Mirrorverse episodes of Enterprise.

I said sucked not good.

Edit: Wait, my bad. I forgot that DS9 was around for seven years and that ST:VIII came out in 96.
