It's not Atlus itself though.

It's just a question of who's going to buy them.

I could see Nintendo doing it since there's been so many releases on their consoles lately.

the mere thought of this is cringe worthy. id rather have them become a sony 1st party developer.
That's even worse.

Why are people cringing at the idea of Nintendo buying Atlus? Atlus has been mostly pumping out games for 3DS. It wouldn't be too far off for that to happen. And don't forget SMTxFE. Nintendo and Atlus have a good relationship; probably more so than Sony.

There's also the question of mutliplatform support versus being tied to Nintendo's consoles.

Granted while guys like Sega have taken to multiplatform support over the years, they're currently doing things like tying Sonic down to Nintendo only. There's also the question of localization support since Nintendo is already picking up the slack for clowns like Squeenix. Basically, I feel that Sony would provide Atlus with more flexibility in the long run over Nintendo (although given Sony's current arcane localization practices and standards....; plus it would be semi humorous to see Nintendo effectively corner the good portion of the JRPG market).

What I'm worried about is what's going to happen to the localization output Atlus USA brings out, since any new potential buyers might not choose to back a self localization studio and either opt to farm it out like what Atlus does for the PAL regions with people like Ghostlight, or not bother at all, tell Atlus USA to shut it down (shut it down forever!), and leave everything stranded in Japan.

Farm out, possibly, but I don't think you need to worry about things being stranded in Japan.  It sounds like the gaming division is doing good and their games are pretty popular worldwide.  Farm out/in house translations will just come down to which costs less...

I don't know about that. Monolithsoft seems to be doing well for itself in spite of being partially owned by Nintendo.

I'm not saying nintendo needs to buy them, but I'd be pretty unhappy if sony did and the 3ds lost atlus support.

I actually hope neither Nintendo or Sony buy it. I am totally okay with Persona on Sony side and SMT on Nintendo's side. Plus, if Nintendo owned Atlus, I'd actually have to get a Wii U. That would not be good. Maybe another company could pick up Atlus. Like Activision! We'd be getting a new SMT every year, with maybe a couple new demons and just wicked multiplayer!

That joke made me die a little inside.

For those who've been sitting on their hands, now's the time to get in on Soul Hackers.

The same. I got to the last boss, but don't have an appropriate party to beat him. I'm too lazy right now to go through fusing and finding new demons to create the best party.

The game isn't giving me any drive to play it. Maybe someday.

If you have a demon faster than the final boss with Makarakarn/Tetrakarn, losing is impossible, so consider that. It's not THAT rough, IMO.

Which form are you fighting?
