Ellen? Is that one of those name changes, because I played the ones on the PSP.

Anyway, the trailer looked great. The graphics actually look pretty damn good, I'm surprised. I hope we get a translation of that trailer soon. I have no idea what to think of the story, because of the whole Japanese thing. The gameplay looks very familiar except the lack of random battles, is a step away from old SMT, but in my opinion a step in the right direction.

While writing this I realized I don't even have a 3DS...FUCK.

Kaneko's character designs were so good! Elly is pretty cute.

If Soul Hackers for 3DS gets localized, that will be my reason for buying a 3DS-XL.  Add SMTIV, and the pot just got sweeter. 

As for the Persona 1 name changes, yeah, the original Playstation version had some really odd ones.

Some pretty interesting stuff in the SMT4 scans from Famitsu this week:

- Characters are designed by Doi, as expected, meh
- Meguro is not doing the soundtrack, Ryota Kozuka (???) is
- No Kaneko
- New demons are all designed by designers from various Kamen Rider and other similar type of Japanese live action stuff
- Main character isn't voiced! Yay
- Some of the battle graphics do look very much improved from Strange Journey, but it's still weird
- I think I see something that looks like a world map, but it might look like some sort of location selector like in SJ too... not sure
- The story is set in some post-Tokyo-fucked-up-bigtime future, where Tokyo as we know it has fallen into darkness and the demon invasion is spreading
- The main characters are "Samurai" from Mikado of the East, a country where the Samurai wear gauntlets equipped with the Demon Summoning Program to fight demons

There's definitely a lot of backlash to the people that are working on the game. It's fine that Meguro isn't working on the OST since he hasn't always worked on every game, but it is weird to not see Kaneko on a mainline SMT game. I think everything will turn out for the best. So far everything they've shown has looked fantastic.

Again, I'm fine with the changes so far. The soundtrack bits we've gotten are superb, so I'm will to trust Ryota Kozuka on this. I also love the new Demon designs, but then again, I used to be a big tokusatsu (or at least the american-ized versions) fan, so this does bring me some nostalgia.

It's all about the situation and context, but without Okada there I knew it could only be so much of a "true" SMT (heh), though Kaneko not being present either IS pretty disappointing.

However, just viewing it as a new SMT game period, mainline or no, it looks like a really nice RPG anyways, so even if it's not quite right for a mainline game it should still be an amazing game in and of itself, so whatever. Take what you can get and all that.

I'm not gonna lie, and this probably because I haven't been playing these games for very long, but I honestly didn't notice that the art was different until you guys pointed it out. I think it looks very good and very fitting.

It looks like the Persona 3 guy consciously trying to do something closer to Kaneko's style?

Also the one guy with the poofy hair looks like the guy with the poofy hair from the Raidou games.

Actually I get sort of a 70s anime vibe as a whole from it.
