The biggest difference between P5 and Versus XIII is simply the fact we have yet to actually SEE P5. It's definitely worse when they show something... and 6 years later still haven't put it out. P5 will probably only be shown once they're actually 6 MONTHS from release.

Yeah they kind of did that with Persona 3 as well.

No rumours at all about it, then suddenly BLAM - surprise! Here's Persona 3!

As for Bravely Default, the game just came out in Japan. I wouldn't be surprised to see it announced at next year's E3.

As someone that works in the IT industry, building up pre-release hype before you actually have a product is about the dumbest goddamn thing you can do /seriously/.

Correction. The dumbest goddamn thing you can do is building up pre-release hype before you actually know what your product even is, nevermind actually having one instead of just a drawing board with a bunch of random and disconnected assets covering it.

In software, until you have a product, you don't know what the product is. Ideally, you do, but...

My favorite thing is when I call a design doc guy and ask if I'm interpreting the design doc correctly (because they're two years out of date and have nothing to do with the project as it currently is) and they ask me for input on how the program should work. SHIT I DON'T KNOW YOU WROTE THE DAMN THING.

I'm going to go vomit up whatever remnants of my soul are still alive, brb.

Some setting and character details for SMT IV.

Hope you have fun storming the castle as a secret agent Samurai upholding the Demon Hunters' Creed.

Weird that it's set it 1492 rather than modern day.

I wonder if they chose that date for a specific reason?

Possibly because at one point you'll be sailing the ocean blue?

The question is what's the Japanese equivalent to the name Christopher Columbus?

I use the "In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue" rhyme to remember my debit card's PIN number. My PIN number isn't 1492.

(I also use the bassline from Devendra Banhard - Just Like a Child as a mnemonic for the name Joe Meno. I AM SPECIAL).

It occurs to me that, given what we know of thus far, with the game featuring heavily armed men running around the countryside busting in the heads of demons and other religious and mythological figures, and the unlikeliness that this game will involve vast quantities of sailing the ocean blue, that we'd be more correct to expect a Japanese/SMT-ified Spanish Inquisition (though Columbus, or 'Koronbusu', shenanigans might still feature).

It's going to sell like crazy, but even if I get a Vita, I am not in the slightest interested.

Eternal Punishment is the better game, but even I acknowledge it would've sold like crap.

P4  Golden is out? Had no idea. That'll have to wait till Christmas, knee-deep in about ten other games to go back and replay that one. However it would give me an actual use for my Vita aside from being a paper weight.

I would get a 3DS, but we have no confirmation about SMT IV coming over. I still want Soul Hackers and Eternal Punishment. Part of me thinks Atlus has given up on everything except Persona 4 over here.
