Thanks for the heads-up. Now I have to preorder a game that I don't have a system for. I might have to spend the 200 bucks and get a 3DS. SMT IV, Soul Hackers, not to mention Devil Survivor and Strange Journey. I find it odd that Atlus heavily supported SMT on PS2, but aside from a few ports to the PSP and such, they are now really headed towards the Nintendo handheld area. Shame, PS Vita is far more powerful...and I have one.

Gotta go where the market is. PS2 was THE console of that generation.

Also consider that the series WAS originally NES/SNES bound. And that they've been supportive of multiple consoles each time even if there's a main one: they ported SMT off to PC Engine CD and Mega CD, and likely other platforms. Similarly they released SMT Nine on the Xbox last gen when everything else was on PS2 or GBA.

It does seem that Persona series, on the other hand, have been exclusive to PlayStation.

There are others Persona games for browser and mobile phones in Japan. I think one of them is canon with the story of P3 and has Aigis as the protagonist, I can't remember more details but I have read something about that before.
Outside of that though, all the main series has been on PlayStation.
Did SMT Nine had an online mode by the way?

Was supposed to. Then I think it got divided into Offline and Online versions and the Online version never came out.

Can anybody explain Soul Hacker's gameplay to me? I seriously could not find a single scrap of info on the battle system. I suppose I could check GameFAQs, but I'm afraid of running into spoilers...

Pulling up the wiki for the game will gave you the results you need right away:

One of the selling points of Soul Hackers for me is the soundtrack; here's the entirety of disc 1:

Looks like the penalty for TPK in SMTIV has been reduced to burning a hole in your Macca.

So happy that the Press Turn is back...although there has been a type of press turn in a lot of the games series. Persona has One More! and Devil Survivor has Extra. The pay to continue system kind of scares me about potential easiness, but I'm sure the prices are jacked up.

It's a spinoff of the original Devil Summoner. Pretty much if you've played like Persona 2, you should know generally what to expect. Two rows of characters and 90s era RPG combat.

Okay. That's all I needed to know. Seriously, I couldn't find anything explaining that much. =P
