The only thing is that with the original Japanese PSX releases, IS had carryover data into EP. It wasn't anything much (mostly just Tatsuya's levels and equipment), but still...

And it got that, along with IS getting a translation at all. EP actually had a very good translation

Is this somehow a bad example?

Yeah, that kind of baffles me. If he pulled out something like "This guy are sick" it'd be clear cut, but that actually looks like a line they'd keep.

Box art time!

Three bishonens and a bunch of demons.
...eh, is not as nice as the one from Nocturne (IMO) but is not bad at all.

Not surprising, Nocturne on a whole was ripe material for some badass art, SMTIV seems comparatively mundane (but I must have it nevertheless.)

I can see them keeping it as a joke, like they did with Spoony Bard for FF, but I don't know if it's what I'd call a stellar example of translation work - despite how funny it is.

Beat me to posting the boxart. I don't care for the dude's hair, but the boxart is awesome. Like how the law/chaos conflict is showcased.

I don't know, I don't think I'm fond of how they're "showcasing" Chaos on the cover. SMT is
usually
pretty good with keeping to the more traditional D&D alignments, where Chaos represents freedom and choice, but Chaos is looking pretty sinister in the art. I can't help but feel there's some bias involved.
Of course, cover art isn't always representative of the game, so maybe it's just there to look cool.

I think Chaos should look sinister, that's part of their leit motif. We're strong. Challenge us and die.

SMTIV, starring Johnny Rotten, Brian May, and some Japanese guy that don't know WHAT the fuck.
Alternatively:
SMTIV, starring the Fourth Doctor, Tenth Doctor, and some Japanese guy that don't know WHAT the fuck.

Just beat (P4 second possible victim boss spoiler)
Code:
Kanji's shadow. Loving the very hard mode. Awesome boss fight, had to use everything I had. Last minute, thought he was going to kill me, but I had a phys-reflect shield on my hero. Boss decides to use assault rush on him. Boink, doink, victory for me. <3
This game is ALL OF THE FUNS.

Not necessarily. Look at games like Raidou 2, where Chaos represents self-determination, or even Devil Survivor, where Yuzu's path is one of the most chaotically-aligned choices. In other cases it's more "survival of the fittest," which isn't inherently bad or even hostile.
