Megami Tensei itself encompasses tons of sub series.

There were the Famicom Megami Tensei games when Namco was the developer, then it changed hands to Atlus and we got the flagship Shin Megami Tensei series.

Devil Summoner and Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers were "what if?" scenarios that depicted an alternate reality where
Code:
the apocalypse
in Shin Megami Tensei I never happened.  Nowadays, the Devil Summoner games are a wholly different, and good, flavor.

Persona was an offshoot series, but there are nods to mainline SMT.  Like the female protagonist in SMT If... makes cameos in P1, P2: IS, and P2:EP as Tamaki and many NPCs are students from the SMT If... high school.

Then you have the Majin Tensei and Devil Survivor SRPGs, Digital Devil Saga, Strange Journey, Devil Children (aka DemiKids), Last Bible (the first game was released as Revelations: The Demon Slayer), and a ton more.  It's hard to keep track.

I'm just happy it's getting released. Although right now i'm questioning my decision to get Android instead of iOS.

As of right now, i'm stuck at SMT4 law route's last boss.

Don't worry guys, there IS an SMT game coming to A console (albeit not a mainline title and there hasn't been more than a peep since it was announced over a year ago, but still, it has SMT in the title and it might not have had the plug silently pulled within the last 13 months).

The dance game?

I sometimes think Atlus quietly took that project out back and put a bullet in its head.

Unless Intelligent Systems is making it, Atlus are way too busy to be involved, and it's a huge financial risk to put ANYTHING on the Wii U.

On the subject of putting bullets into projects' heads, can we expect the same of the 3DS Devil Survivor 2 port?

Considering how the 3DS has become RPG Heaven...that's still going.

When did Soul Hackers 3DS come out? I should probably play that before the one year anniversary of me buying it.

... Oh well, that's not going to happen.

It came out last May I think?

Sometime early in the spring, I grabbed it when I bought my 3DS.

April 16. I still had the receipt. Fun game, got burnt out on it pretty quick though. But for my first buy on 3ds, it was a good one.

It's short but sweet. Its current price in Amazon is good enough.

http://www.funstock.co.uk/news/persona-5/

"Persona 5 will be more approachable than previous games"

It's already devolving into a dance game and chibi game.....what more can they do to casual-ise it?

Just sounds like typical PR to me.

No company is gonna come out and say "It's even more dense and esoteric than the last game!

Maybe they'll mean it will flow a bit better? Persona 3 had a rather awkward mesh of the social links and the main plot and while Persona 4 did it a bit better, it was still kind of weird.
