In the case of Fallout 3, the only DLC I plan to get is the thing that lets you continue after the ending.  The other stuff looks like it's good, but I think the game itself has enough content to keep me busy for a long, long time.  I've been playing for a few weekends now as a good guy and haven't really even scratched the surface.

That's odd, I hadn't heard anything about lots of bugs being reported for the PS3 version of Fallout 3. Do you have a link Ashton? If anything I hear a lot more about the DLC being completely unplayable due to bugs and glitches. Anyway, I don't plan on supporting any DLC for Fallout 3 if it is going to get pulled and then crappily patched numerous times afterwards. There are still reports of people having trouble with "The Pitt" even after the most recent patches.

And I forgot all about Mass Effect. Hrmm, back to the drawing board...

Here's a list of bugs. Oh, and yes, if there's anything that's going to change your mind about which console to get it should be Mass Effect, not Fallout 3 DLC that keep having stupid bugs.

Wow, there are a few game crippling glitches there. I'm beginning to wonder if I want to get Fallout 3 at all.

I played the game for a good 30 hours on 360 and never encountered anything that would hinder my gameplay experience, not sure how much this helps, just thought I'd give my 2 cents.

Games as open as Bethesda's don't bug me as much there as, say, hearing about them in a linear RPG like Ar Tonelico. If a situation is bugged you can just try to avoid it, and they're so ambitious I have to cut them some slack. Worse comes to worse and your files get screwed, well, at least you can take a totally different approach or do quests you ignored before.

I'm also on 360 and haven't run into any bugs in Fallout 3.

PS3 owners got boned on Fallout 3.

Yep. Great game, but exclusive DLC is retarded.

I'm actually glad this happened, all of the games I've liked being re-released on the PS3 (I don't have) with extra content has really annoyed me.

Does DLC even matter to most people? I mean, I got Tomb Raider Underworld for the 360 with the knowledge it would be getting the exclusive DLC, which I was interested in. Now that the DLC is out, it's so overpriced that I just don't care.

In regards to PS3 ports having new content; Let's be honest here, by the time the port does come out, the 360 version is old enough to have gone down in price. If Bioshock and Eternal Sonata are $20, the PS3's extra features / bug fixes will have be pretty sterling to warrant the extra $30.

I'm only going to tolerate Eternal Sonata if I can play it in French.

I'd go with the 360. I have one and it rocks.
The PS3 is huuuuuuuge and looks like a heater rather than a game console, design wise it's like 70ies consoles everyone was churning out.

Besides that, the price. I got my 360 for 199€, PS3 should be a good 150€ more. Also, I think the games are a bit more expensive, most  likely due to the more expensive discs.

I only saw it once, but compared to the 360's system menu, the PS3's looks kinda unintuative.

Not sure if PS3 has something like the guide button, allowing you to get back into the console menu any time or shut down the console easily.
And not to mention, the halfassed motion sensoring that some games indeed do use, it sucks bad.
I played Flower and while visually impressive, the controls where among the worst I ever saw.

There's nothing wrong with the PS3's crossbar. To be honest, I actually prefer it over the 360's system menu.

Yes, it does.

A majority of PS3 games don't use the SIXAXIS very much, so it's nothing to complain about. Besides, from all the PS3 games i've played which use this feature, it isn't a problem.

The 360 actually copied the XMB more or less in the end, and I found the XMB more intuitive to use overall. Plus Live kicks you from My Xbox to Spotlight when you sign in, which is a minor issue but bugs me out of principle (Spotlight is used mostly to advertise, though mostly on what you can find on Live, while My Xbox lets you play your games). And while the Sixaxis control usually sucks, it's hardly bad for the games designed completely around it. Maybe it's not ideal, but flow and flower are hardly the kind of intense games that require delicate controls anyway, so you're not penalized very badly for any slip ups.

The PS3 is huuuuuuuge and looks like a heater rather than a game console, design wise it's like 70ies consoles everyone was churning out.

This may be one of the goofiest reasons I've seen listed for not getting a system.

Agreed Eus..he sounds a bit to fanboyish in his reasoning, but *shrug*.

Honestly for me, the 360 was the choice simply because of the price and the fact that it seemed to have better game support at the time (this is back in..early 06 I believe.)  I am honestly not a big fan of the current live dashboard stuff.  I just dont like it all that much, I found previous iterations more pleasing and less confusing.  However its far from something id actually argue wether or not the reason to buy a console on.

Obviously the 360 has its problems, I was hit by the red ring, but it was easy enough to fix myself, and cheaper that shipping it off to MS, even if it voided the warranty, but since then, I have not had a SINGLE problem with my 360.  Not a one.  And I havnt had that new graphics related thing end up, but I think thats related to the HDMI port isnt it? And mine is one of the old ones that doesnt have that.

If you could find a ps3 model with the backwards compatibility, and don't currently have a PS2 (this doesnt really count for the majority of folks here since you all pretty much have one) then it would be a pretty damn good deal, assuming you also wanted the new gen (next gen is dumb) games and the blu ray.  Blu Ray is nice, dont get me wrong, but I just dont like the fact that you have to pay so much more for a movie, when you can get it on DVD for a pretty decent price, and with upscaling it looks pretty damn good.  Unless you have a really nice TV or something..blu ray just doesnt seem all that appealing :P

Like I said before esper, there are plenty of guides on the internet on how to fix it.  You just have to ignore some of the more retarded ideas like using a towel.  Its been awhile so I honestly do not recall which video on youtube I followed, but you should be able to easily tell by finding a nice step by step one that shows what you need to do, just make sure it involves taking it apart, removing the clamps, using washers and screws, that kinda of thing.  The one I used was pretty good, had a list of what you needed, step by step on how to take apart the console to do the repairs, etc.  Just be forewarned it will void your warranty.
