Besides being pretty cold throughout the game, his actions and subsequent reactions during the big plot twist were downright reprehensible.

I echo the sentiment that Calintz was the best thing about MC1.
The gameplay was a nightmare, but it had great audio/visual design, and a good story.
If MC2 fixes the gameplay, it could be a great game.
I don't recall Calintz's actions at the plot twist being reprehensible? He was certainly one of the only competent VAs.

Major spoilers.
Code:
I don't know, the whole want to kill your friend/lover deal with Reith just didn't sit well with me, considering he didn't have even a doubt about those actions. Then after her passing he couldn't care less about it. Furthermore, he apparently even didn't have any sort of guilty thoughts about pursuing her sister after the game ended.
I could be remembering it wrong, but the whole deal rubbed me the wrong way.

That actually didn't bother me all that much.
He accepted it and got on with his life.

I loved Magna Carta enough to even pick up the japanese guide.
It was...different...
The screenshots of the sequel look awesome
I'm more excited by this game than the new Final Fantasy - but a lot of that is the anticipation of whether the game will be released in the UK too!!!

Nice video. Looking forward to this game.

No one wants to play an ass, but the genre really needs to get away from the "generic good-natured adolescent learns the power of friendship and saves the world" cookie-cutter protagonist occasionally. It's a fine trope that's satisfied players before and will continue to do so, but I want some variety. Getting rid of the rules that a protagonist:
1) must be wholly likeable
2) must develop in a positive fashion; i.e., ending the game better off or more fulfilled than when he started
opens up a whole new set of possibilities. I want to see stories where the protagonist makes some bad decisions and falls victim to his inner demons, perhaps never managing to resolve them. As long as I can understand his perspective I don't care if his actions don't line up with what I'd consider "the right thing to do." If his perspective makes me question my own, all the better. Along the same line, one-time mistakes (usually outside his control or not his fault) by the protagonist are fairly common. I'd like to see more deeply entrenched prejudices that flavor or motivate the protagonist's actions and that he never necessarily admits to or repents for, making him a human being and not just some supposed vanilla extension of the player.

I think he's saying that the demo is out on the Japanese XBL, and that it's good or confusing or something.

Its so horrid, words fail at describing it.
The texture could tear the screen in 2... wth...
This had better be a demo issue and not what the actual product looks like, because all the graphic tears and gawd knows what is making this game look like a hack job. -.-;;

Sounds like the demo lives up to the quality of ToB. :p

Are you talking about screen tearing? I played the demo a few times and did not experience a much of it. No more than the average game on the market. I'll play it again when I get home just to see if I missed something.
In the town you can tell right away that it is not as detailed as LO (Another UE3* RPG) and seems to be using a blur filter to hide aliasing which I have to admit is a bit excessive. It's so prominent that it appears to destroy texture detail in the town. Then again the textures probably weren't that detailed to begin with. When on the field on the other hand DOF takes over to hide most of the aliasing and the blur filter is gone. The field graphics aren't bad from what is shown in the demo but like I said before the game probably just doesn't have the budget to be as detailed as LO. The battles system seemed good I just need to get used to it.
*UE3 does not play nice with MSAA or should I say the deferred shading techniques used extensively in most games that use the engine does not play nice with MSAA… at least on consoles that is the case.
