Silly Kingdom Hearts question (for a friend)

So my roommate is playing through the game and she can't figure out how to use the shared ability high jump (I guess she needs it to advance along in the game) so could someone who knows please help? Thanks!

Tell her, "Go to the abilities menu and equip it. It's in the shared category. Then, hold down the button a little longer when you jump." It's really that simple.

It's not that silly--I never even noticed getting super glide until I had beaten the game twice, and even then I forgot to equip it for a while afterwards. Not that I use it anyhow.
