What is it with all these games these days doing the "The world is shrouded in poison, except for this one conveniently built utopia, which is not so utopian anymore." plot point? It's getting kinda old at this point.

They couldn't get their Garden of Eden stories published any other way? Then again that'd only work if there was an Adam and Eve twist at the end.
