is up on VC today.
Does anyone intend to sink $8 to try it out?

I heard it's one of the most downloaded games on the Wii (3m I believe) so I'm guessing it's gonna be good.

I'lll give it a shot. If it turns out to suck, at least it was not so expensive and can be fun to bash. Hoping it won't be regardless ;p

Wiimote batteries are dead! Once they're charged, I'll have it.

You must mean for the cellphones, because there's no way that could've sold 3 milliion in the one hour between its launch and when it went live on WiiWare, seeing as how it's not on any other territory's Wii Shop and sales news wouldn't be released that fast.
Anyways, a few comments about the sales: 3 million downloads of an Episodic series means that way less than a million played it, or well over a million did but few stuck with it to the end. Besides, sales don't guarantee quality.

Thanks to some extra wii points I got around xmas time, I got it today (with Rydia's chapter).
Very early thoughts:
* Extremely 1990's retro, which is good.
* Ceodore whines and angsts just like his daddy.
* Speaking of his daddy, Rosa and Cecil are still the most melodramatic characters ever. This is also good.
*Love the Moon/Band systems so far.
Seems to be pretty good so far.

I'm reviewing it for the site as we speak.
If you loved (or even liked) FFIV, this is a must purchase.
I've been thoroughly (even overly) impressed.

So far so good for me too, only because I really enjoy the retro feel of it. I'm saddened by having to purchase extra chapters, but ah well... what's done is done.

It looks like early indications says that the game is worth it? I might give it a shot since I played three versions of the prequel. lol

Wait. You only got the first chapter? That blows. :(

I think the other chapters are basically side stories you can buy. I got rydia's and it it opens up a story select option in the main menu. Main game seems standalone, but I'm only on the second dungeon now of the main game.

So far, so good. Enjoying this a lot more than I ever did FFIV itself. :) Moon/Band systems are awesome.
Also: What. There's multiplayer? Holy fuck awesome. I'm gonna try that out with my friends tonight. :D

I put in about 2 hours of game time into it today. It's a total throwback to the original, with some new perks. The storyline is difficult to grasp at times, in that, you have no idea what's going on. And I find the pacing of the game to be weird. It jumps around from character to character often. All in all, it's an enjoyable experience so far.

I played it for about 45 minutes earlier and I'm digging it. Band will be cool I think once I figure out how to use it properly...But I do like the moon phases; they add a nice twist to the old FFIV gameplay. I'm totally going to buy extra chapters, but probably not until the end of the week. I am enjoying how completely over the top the dialogue and characters are.
