Actually, that's not bad either, it's obvious that there was a lot that happened between Super Metroid (III) and Metroid Fusion (IV). I haven't watched the preview yet, but it sounds good that they're going to at least tie in with the events of the main series now. Prime was an incredible trilogy, but it did irk me that they had 3 games had NOTHING TO DO with the original series. Samus saved all of humanity and spearheaded a war, all during the period between Metroid I and Metroid II. That just felt weird to me.
I wonder if Nintendo, proper, has basically reserved the license to do the main Metroid installments, or whether they see the main installments as being all 2D sidescrollers. I guess I could buy that, as long as they actually DO IT.

Well, it's likely to be the only "big" game they push out this year. Of course they're going to hype it a little more than the stuff that might not be out until Winter 2010.

Yea, I was just looking at the coverage on 1UP for Nintendo's press conference and all I can say is I'm happy. Very happy. Golden Sun DS, and a new Metroid that looks like it could push the series in the direction I was hoping it might go after the first Metroid Prime; I'm so glad I have a DS and a Wii. Then there are a lot more catching my eye that I'll probably get.
Though I have to say I don't want any more Super Mario Galaxy. The first is a great game, but I don't want to run around tiny planetoids and get dizzy like that ever again.

The vitality sensor could be neat in survival horror games, now that I think about it.

I just saw the new trailer and I'm psyched. Looks like a lot more attention to story, which would be nice for a Metroid. It looks like this game will switch styles of gameplay a bit. One section looked 2D, and then I saw some first person viewpoint stuff, along with the normal 3rd person.
And, are we SURE that this doesn't follow after Metroid Fusion? I'm betting you anything that those scenes in the military base are flashbacks. She had shorter hair in those scenes, which makes me think that it was supposed to be in a different time period, the one that's also mentioned in Fusion. That was most obviously Adam, there. We don't know much about how he died, but Fusion hinted that it was in some major event. Other M may spend part of the game (or cutscenes) showing that, but I'm guessing that this is basically Metroid V.

Alright, I buy his explanation, and it actually sounds like it has more involvement with the Metroid Fusion/Zero Mission team than the Prime games, which is not a bad thing (though I cringed every time he mentioned Fusion). I'm just really glad they got it away from Retro's grubbly little paws, after alternate dimensions and multipul worlds, it'll be good to be back immersed in one big, non-linear world again.
Oh, and if I'm getting this correctly: short haired girl IS Samus Aaron, just maybe earlier? There seems to be some confusion about this, but the faces are the same, so I'm suspecting as much. No, the woman at the end is NOT another Samus (everyone keeps making that mistake), you can tell that her facial structure is different, she appears to be a researcher who is very important to the plot.

I'm really excited about the new look and design for Metroid: Other M. I loved the first Metroid Prime and liked the other two, but I always found Samus's abilities too restricted by the first person perspective. I always imagined while playing Super Metroid she would be much more mobile and deadly than she ever is in the Prime series. I'm really looking forward to it.

One other thing that I noticed in the trailer is the presence of what looked a lot like a Speed Booster Dash which I sorely missed in the Prime games (Speed Booster. Accept no substitutes).
And now for something different:
A NSMBWii preview.
And the best part....Bowser Jr. is moving out to let the Koopa Kids in. :)

Actually, a new Wii Zelda has been announced. There are just no images or videos yet:

Adult Link seems to have lost his sword. But from the cryptic interview, it sounds like this game will be even darker than TP, which would practically put it into M territory.
