Reviving this, as the official site updated. Still no new shots or anything. Maybe in a week we'll know for sure if it's the same as in that video or if it's had any significant changes. :P

This is getting rather silly now. Each company is bringing out their own handheld. Competition is heating up, for sure. I probably won't be supporting the Xbox 360, and neither the handheld. I kind of doubt there will be any strong RPG support for it.

Then the Origami is nothing new. We've had mini-laptops for a decade now. :P

Quote
"not a portable Xbox"

This is the only instance in which "portable" and "Xbox" could go in the same sentence.

Remember this? Yeah, it finally got re-revealed. Just head here again, or if you'd rather not sit through the introductory flash animation and get right to the final product, here.

Now it looks cooler in my opinion though it is pretty much useless for me as of now. Might have bought it if it was a real gaming handheld, but why bother now.

It may be able to do lots of fancy stuff, but it's still to damn big to carry around comfortably.

Jesus Christ, stop being retarded. It's not supposed to be a gaming system, it's just a mini PC that runs Windows Tablet XP. It's just another standardized portable platform factor-- ASUS and Samsung already have prototypes.

I think its cool, as long as buying this plus a desktop is cheaper than a laptop, I'd get one. My laptop is on the verge of dying, and I'd rather get a desktop and this would solve my needs as far as portability goes.

To be fair, outside of the initial reply and a nonsensical comparison on Hidoshi's part, this time around everyone seemed to either have realized that or just hadn't brought it up, such as the expression of disappointment that it wasn't really a portable gaming system.

Still though, outside of the whole 'ZOMG HALO' screens, there really wasn't much that made this look like a gaming handheld in the first place. The movie from a year ago focused on way more than that, and how the site is designed seemed to be aiming more for a broad audience ala Windows XP, and not a specific audience like the X360 commercials and sites.

Edit: Just in case someone wants to resurrect the whole 'HANDHELD GAMING SYSTEM' thing despite everything we just said, I'd like to note the official name of the device: Ultra-Mobile PC. Boring name that sounds more like something you'd say in the advertizing slogan than the actual name of the device, but I'll be damned if it doesn't get the point across. :P

I feel it's too big and the battery life is too short to have any real world use. The great things about a PDA is that a buisness person can throw it into their coat pocket, take it out on the bus/plane to do whatever etc. This thing would need a seperate case to lug around.
