Maybe they'll be like Sting and skip the third installment? This opens a world of possibilities!

Except that the only people who would ever act like Sting is Sting itself.

So it could be...

SaGa 4
Romancing SaGa 4 (I would love to see that one...)
Final Fantasy: The Warriors of Light (a NES/SNES like FF spinoff, to be released on the Wii's Wiiware)

Don't forget how Xenogears was actually Episode 5.

The 4 means it's Chrono Trigger 3

This is fun!

I almost want to think it's either a Chrono or Mana game.

It's looking like to be a new SaGa game.

I hope it would be on consoles (PS360Wii) at least but that looks near impossible, most likely a DS game.

And the Ogre Battle series only covers numbers 5-7 (or something to that effect). The difference is that whereas both of those series were created at game 5 or something was that there really was going to be a Dept. Heaven #3 until stuff fell through and rather than struggle through it gave it amiss and went straight on to #4. Eventually the series is planned to reach 9 games in all.

Back to the subject though, the background music in the website really does sound like SaGa II's overworld theme.

It's Final Fantasy 4 for PSP, because we all know that game hasn't had enough ports yet. :P

But last I heard, Dept. Heaven #3 is actually in development.  It's an MMO.

I'm picking up a SaGa/Final Fantasy Legend vibe as well.  I'm conflicted about the Game Boy-esque music though.  I am fully aware of the retro-chic trend in gaming nowadays (particularly in RPGs), but is that kind of sound quality of the music too retro?  What if it looked like the old Game Boy graphics with that creamed spinach color?  Would that be too retro?

I would consider this a possibility if only there wasn't a recent remake of the game for the Nintendo DS.  I don't really have a guess about what game this might be.  We'll find out soon enough, I guess.

Neal,

You'll notice by refreshing the page each day that the music is getting slightly louder, and the drawing is getting a little more complete.

Some people are suggesting that, as we get closer to July 6th, the VERSION of the song will switch, from GB synth to something higher quality, as though SaGa 4 has "grown" into something else.

If this is the case, this will officially be the greatest "countdown" page ever.

And they'll remake it as an 8-bit game! Which wouldn't really be effective at all since it's not even a huge leap over FFIII.
