Looks pretty cool, especially the battle scenes.

Now I've never actually seen nor read of the original Valkyrie Profile battle system, so from what we've seen, does the VP:S battle system look like that of the original game's?

VP2 review tidbits: Graphics rock, combat is deep. Game is tough, not enough tutorials (haha), steep learning curve. Feels like a very well crafted product. Basically each of the four reviewers all felt the game was really hard and the learning curve was steep so it took them some time to get used to the game.

Dengeki PS2:

90/85/95/80

- There are tons of secrets and finding them is awesome
- In true VP tradition the areas are horizontal scrolling so even though the backgrounds are really detailed and pretty, you can't interact with them
- The game's action, puzzles and combo-heavy battles feels very much like VP
- The combat has a high learning curve and can be confusing at first
- The game is pretty damn hard and sometimes unforgiving
- If you spend time figuring out the game, you can find tricks and weaknesses that make even hard boss battles much easier
- Tons of characters, so managing equipment can be a pain
- The camera view that changes between movement and battles can be pretty confusing
- You can skip special attack animations in battle

My Artifact Box of VP2 should be here in about a week.  I seriously can't wait much longer.  I have beaten every tri-Ace game, and VP1 is definitely one of my favorites.  

And I spent $150 total for my special edition of VP2, so it had better look cool (I never saw a picture of it, I just gave my very trusted friend $150 to import it for me).
