Chrono Trigger question

So I'm playing CT on the DS.

I went and saw Frog in the little grotto before I got the Masamune.

Then I went and got the broken blade part, and went back to see Frog.

Now he won't join my party and I can't get the hilt.

Is this a bug?

Have I screwed my game?

Probe around a bit? Maybe you needed to talk to the "hero" first or something.

i havnt played this game in ahwile but im pretty shure their is two different blade paerts to get then, u take them to umm melchlior or however its spelled and he will fix it, after you go back in time to the stone age to get a missing ingredient. i think one peice is in frogs house and the other u have to get from masa and mune.
I THINK. like i said havent played it in years. ive been meaning to pick up a ds just for the purpose of playing iti again tho. i guess theirs 2 new dungeons. man i love this game lol

Did Frog move? If so, touch the sparkling area where he was before to pick up the hilt. Once you do that, go back to 1,000 AD in Medina village and go to Melchior and speak with him. That starts the whole quest for Dreamstone and you can take it from there. It isn't until you reforge the sword that you can get Frog.

Also, as per Eusis' suggestion, you may need to go and find Tata and talk to him about the Hero Medal in order to trigger certain events.
