RPG from From Software for the PS3:

Better scans:

So this game is literally a 2D game in 3D?

I'm looking forwards to hearing more about this, the concept is really neat looking at the scan.

Should be fun.

This looks AWESOME.  Do want more details please.  Although I've heard that From Software doesn't make very good RPG's.

3D Dot Game Heroes is set in the Kingdom of Dotnia. This world was once made up of 2D sprite art like something out of an old school game. However, wanting to attract more people to the kingdom, the king decided to use technology to make everything 3D. This is where something goes horribly wrong, although just what that is has yet to be specified.

Despite the retro theme, the game does look impressive technically. It's being developed by Silicon Studio, a developer who worked with From on PSP's Onore no Shinzuru Michi wo Yuke, but who also does middle ware.

I'm strangely attracted to this game.

That was my first thought, too.

I'm liking the art style, but will I be able to customize my hero with a near-infinite number of classes, armor, weapons, and other gear? Will I be able to spend countless hours doing so, in the hopes of having a .001% advantage over my foes?

As your life grows, your sword does too, and when you reach max life, the sword becomes "fat, long, and hard." Those are seriously the words Famitsu uses to describe it.

I would imagine that on the back of those life extending agents you'll be collecting is a label warning you to contact a doctor if your sword remains extended for more than four hours.

Fixed it for ya

I hear this game is targeted to those aged 20-30. So I'm guessing we're expecting a nostalgic adult RPG. :P

They released more news about how you can create your own character in a 16x16x16 block space.

http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3175855

Which is gonna bring about some obviously phallic shaped characters. I for one will be making myself. Which is gonna be horribly difficult hahaha. But yeah this game looks really interesting to me. And even if the words about From Software's RPG back catalog are true(I haven't researched this at all) the game looks like a fairly standard old school rpg fair. SO they cant really go too far wrong, only too generic.

Trailer's out, and it's definitely a Zelda clone.
