When my character block attacks, they're stunned for a few seconds.  When the AI blocks an attack, they can attack immediately.

That reminds me of how in Odin Sphere enemies aren't affected by knockback from getting attacked NEARLY as much as you are.

Matador's actually not THAT hard.

Yes, he isn't, and the supposed difficulty has something to do with the fact that he wasn't in the original game. But still, the first few tries can be brutal, as the game is only moderately challenging up to that point.

I bought Okami a few days ago (been keepin it for harsh times) along with Mana Khemia. I've played Okami like crazy these past few days and it a great experience. One of the best games I've played on the ps2, and also knowing that the game bombed on both platforms makes me think down on mankind.

Yeah, Matador wasn't SO bad, but I also decided to gain a couple levels - and skills - anyway. :P I think I'm at like 20 now and I already beat him. I think I only tried him 3-4 times in all.

Then I got to Ikebukroisuryglro and then uh die din the Labyrinth of Amala. I knew that, our version being JP's Maniacs, Dante was a Maniacs addition, and so was the labyrinth? According to the guide.

So two days after the fact I can finally announce that I've finally beaten Beyond the Beyond. It's definitely on par with Quest 64 if you know what you are doing in this game, retarded as fuck otherwise. This game is why we have GameFAQs, it makes life so much easier.

Now that BtB is finished it's time I picked BoF III back up for the fourth time. And just in time for classes to start too. D:

Well, the thing about Matador is that he isn't hard if you know what you're doing.  If it's your first Megaten game, though, you probably don't know what you're doing and will get stomped hard multiple times.  I know from experience.  :/

Is BtB worthy to play? Good story? Classic?

I do have the game but AFAIK, it's very hard to level up and you die easily.

I wasn't enjoying Cross Edge after all (I guess even I have my own limits with fan-service :P), so I traded it in along with SRTOG Endless Frontier, which I actually finished and liked. It was very fun, but the dialogue was pissing me off for some reason. :P Together, they gave me about 65 bucks credit to work with, so I traded them in for Ninja Gaiden Sigma, and put the rest to pay off the rest of my Persona PSP pre-order. Heh, good thing I traded them in now while they're still worth something.

On that note, Ninja Gaiden Sigma is kicking my ass.... hard. I can barely beat the first boss. And it doesn't help that the controls and camera angles piss me off either. :l I'll probably get the hang of it eventually though.

I also finally collected all of Aoba Anoa's Weapon and Illustration cards in Otomedius G, thus completing the achievements for the game. But now I got 7 more characters' collections to complete, just for the hell of it (and cause OCD tells me to).... Fuck. :P I'll probably work on Poini or Tron next, but not right now. Maybe just over some pick up and play sessions with the game.

Also, there was a little dealy going on, in Play-Asia, so I ordered Eternal Sonata PS3, and Princess Crown PSP. So now I'm expecting those, as well as Muramasa to come in the mail, sometime this week. So while I'm waiting for those games, I (finally) started a play-through of Odin Sphere. This game is really fucking beautiful, and I'm going to have a blast playing Odin Sphere, Princess Crown, and Muramasa, back to back. :D

I can't speak for the other two encounters with him, by the way, but the one mandatory fight with Dante is one of the easiest fights in the game.

BTW. If you're ever given the option to jump off a building... HEAL as soon as you land. Do NOT walk. Do NOT move. Do NOT do ANYTHING but heall

Anyway last night I got a sweet-ass midair grenade frag in Quake Live. It was beautiful. We both took the same jump pad, I was flying right next to him, then bam. Head on it with a grenade and he got all dead.

I started Kingdom Hearts up again on expert. I'd like to go on to the second right after (and skipping CoM, cause it just doesn't interest me), but I'm guessing I'll be too burnt out by the time I finish the first game.

Probably remember it well enough to rush through with barely any effort.

I'm playing it too and have just gotten the Space Jump! I really do like being able to play with the Wii controls, but I was going to switch the Jump/Shoot buttons only to see they aren't reflected in morph ball mode (A still drops bombs, B still charges). Such a dumb oversight.

I do have the game but AFAIK, it's very hard to level up and you die easily.

If you're looking for story look elsewhere. There's nothing to see here that you haven't already seen before.

Frankly the game itself is at best on par with FF I with its stupidly high encounter rate. At worst its a piece of forgettable crap with lovely gameplay systems and awful dungeon designs including such wonders as a dungeon with obtuse block puzzles that win or lose will reset upon departure of the room, a sewer that you need to pass through at least four times (twice just to kill some time with a chat with an old friend who doesn't really ever do anything for you), a dungeon that forces your main character to go it alone which is admittedly short but filled with encounters equal to the stuff directly outside where you have/need an entire party to wrangle with, a dungeon that requires you to bring two key cards from the second floor down to the bottom with the paths changing depending on which key card you're carrying at the moment since you can only carry one at a time, and every non cave/castle dungeon in the game is at least six floors deep/tall and may or may not end with another dungeon right on top of it. Castles as luck would have it only have about three or four floors maximum with no major gimmicks outside of a little key fetching, however the already ridiculous encounter rate is bumped up from fights every six steps to fights every two steps. Some caves of course double as dungeons too like one where you have to climb six massive floors littered with hidden barricades and pitfalls. Granted none of the dungeons reach Cave to Rhone levels of torture but some get close.

Then of course there are things like a retardedly ineffectual timed hit system knock-off, terrible party AI (comes complete with terribly efficient enemy AI), a lame ass Life Point imitation, ineffectual magic users with ridiculously expensive spells (especially healing spells), the brilliant idea of horribly crippling one of your characters for half the game, enemy encounters regularly achieving near boss fight like qualities (or boss fights being nothing more than a regular encounter with one or two of the enemies possessing higher than average HP totals), and so on. Otherwise this game isn't too bad if you have a guide or know everything that it has in store for you (like having a method to reduce enemy magic damage by half for the rest of the game or a second healer to spread the absurd MP costs of healing and so on).

The only good things about this game is its length (or lack thereof), a scene or two that actually looks nice (like when you're crossing one of the bridges between kingdoms), and the final mode of transportation looking like one of NGE's Angels.

I think I'm going to give the Cave of Seven Stars a break, in SO4. I haven't made much progress since I last mentioned it, but I beat the main story, so it's not as if I feel particularly obligated to keep playing the game at the moment. I'll take this chance to finish the other games I am currently playing.

I hit chapter 4 of Gwendolyn's arc in Odin Sphere. This game is beating my ass hard... but I am loving every moment of it.

Also hit chapter 5 of Ninja Gaiden Sigma. God damn, this game is beating my ass even harder.

I finally started up Time Hollow as well. Just playing it on bus rides to and from work and school right now. No real opinion of it yet.
