Played SimIsle. The DOS version, since I'm planning on LPing it and the Windows version is crashy as hell. Windows version has some other odd behavior. Like, building's will start working without a proper road connection, and stuff like that. DOS version has some weird glitches thanks to DOSBOX issues, though. I think I could run it without dosbox but then I wouldn't get any music and SI's OST is one of my favorites ever.

Played Jazz on easy mode. Game's werid because the level layouts change a bit based on difficulty level, and on the harder difficulties some are impossible to beat.

Experimenting with a new road layout in SimCity 4: http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/378/roadlayout.png

The two red lines are an avenue, blue lines are streets, and green lines are roads. Basically the thicker the line, the higher the speed and capacity.

Every intersection will force traffic to stop which increases congestion. You get a lot of intersections and stuff gets really crappy fast. Especially when you're changing road type.

Let's start with the roads. Per neighborhood, I have four roads. If each road connected directly to the street I'd have four intersections. That's bad. So I connect the roads in a manner that I have two rectangular loops. And instead of putting a single connection between those and street, I have them connected, so for every four roads I combine them down into a single intersection.

I'm actually less sure about what's going on with the street-to-avenue connections. As it stands there's just some side streets that occasionally feed into the avenue. What I REALLY should do is uh adopt another tuning fork approach like I did with the roads.

The right side of the avenue might be the MOST ideal situation here although there's less connectivity between the individual neighborhoods which isn't... exactly desirable:

http://img715.imageshack.us/img715/4339/roadlayout2.png

Something like this would be a further improvement: http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/1787/roadlayout3.png

Here, the streets are connected by segments of street that don't intersect the avenue. I don't know if I want to stagger them like that or not.

Additionally I think putting crossover points in the avenue MIGHT be better where the streets already intersect some I'm not creating new areas of congestion.

I created my EA account on my PS3 when I started up Dragon Age. I've been able to download 2 of the 3 DLC (including the Blood Dragon Armor from my PS3 DA).

Huh, good to know PS3 owners weren't inherently screwed out of the armor... just that they would need to go to PC or 360 for it obviously.

The whole DLC thing with DA and ME2 is stupid.

Having to create an EA account and download the DLC within the game through EA is causing such confusion.

There were so many people who had no idea what to do when DA came out. I kept trying to put my DLC codes into the XBox live system, not knowing that you had to do it within the game itself.

Well, if this ME2 hassle lets me download everything for free on the PC when I get that version then I eagerly welcome it. It does seem like this is the case, when I input my codes on Bioware's site I was given the option to download for PC, so hopefully when I grab that version later on I'll be ready. This is something that annoys me with GFW Live, you could buy the Fallout 3 DLC on the Xbox yet you would need to double dip on the PC version. It's the same damn service, can't you just track that I own it and let me get it on PC too?

Admittedly, the ME2 stuff also doesn't bug me too much because I had to have an EA/Bioware account for the Dragon Age DLC on PC, and I linked my GamerTag through a nearly forgotten demo of Fight Night Round 4 when I was setting up the account properly.

Because if they did that, you wouldn't have to buy it twice, and they'd make less money.

Which is actually something that would be more typical of EA which is sort of funny.

At level 39 apiece, I finally cleared the level 7 Gauntlet in M&L3 (11 levels below the recommended level). I'm going to set this game aside for now since I don't want to gouge out my DSi's touch screen trying to score a perfect 100 on the puzzles.

Dragon Quest V: Trying to farm gold in that tower in the south west. They're almost useless, but I want to get some Falcon Knife Earrings for my wife so she can do something worthwhile instead of casting Oomph on my hero. Plus, I like them for metal slime killing for obvious reasons.

I thought one of the slot machines in Fortuna was "loose," according to one of the NPCs in the prison there. But after save/loading five times and losing 3000 tokens every time, I don't care to waste my time with it now. I'd rather get exp while I do it, so, tower it is.

Still don't know where metal slime kings are. I guess I'll put my hazmat suit on and hit up gamefaqs.

Sorry to say, but the only place where I encountered them was in the bonus dungeon (although the final dungeon might have them too). That said, they're nastier than other versions since they like to cast Chance which can potentially screw you over if you're unlucky. If you're looking for a good weapon to slay MKSs with for your wife, then a poison needle is by far the best option. The chance to instant kill is far more effective than doing two HP worth of damage at most to them. Ultimately though MKSs are not the best way to grind for EXP. Not that its a bad thing to off one or two of them, but its not a good idea to rely on them that much either.

As for the casino itself, aside from a couple of Metal King Swords and the T'n'T boards there's very little to get from them. Falcon Knife Earrings aren't nearly as good as they were in IV due to the lack of Alena and her absurdly high strength and luck stats. Also, as far as human characters are concerned, all the wives are pretty lousy. Nera has the best magic of the three but Madachen is better still, the new wife has the least crappy equips (including a better alternative to Falcon Knife Earrings) but she still frail as hell, and Bianca's the average between the other two. I wouldn't bother keeping any of the wives in the main party unless I had no better alternatives.

A good place to grind is out on the field of the underworld. The enemies there are fairly rewarding and you can occasionally run into a swarm of metal slimes or the odd liquid metal slime. If you're grinding on the tower to Zenithia keep an eye out for King Cure Slimes. They're the best healers of the game and are quite rare too (they're probably the most difficult enemy to recruit in the game).

6 hours into Mass Effect 2. I'm loving it so far. Only 2 more hours left of work and I can start playing it again...

There were so many people who had no idea what to do when DA came out. I kept trying to put my DLC codes into the XBox live system, not knowing that you had to do it within the game itself.

That's because you, and people like you, are dumb.

No, bear with me for a moment.

The Dragon Age DLC cards have simple instructions.  They state:

Quote
1. From the main menu, select 'Downloadable Content'
2. Select 'Redeem Code'
3. Follow the on-screen instructions

Perhaps you decided not to read those instructions and went straight to the XBL menu, moved over to the marketplace tab, and then clicked redeem code.  OK then.  Some people are impatient and don't read instructions so that they can bitch about being confused later on.  No problem.  On the XBL redeem code screen, it says explicitly above the text box that you type in:

Quote
Enter the 25-character code from your prepaid card

Meanwhile, all the DLC codes are 16 characters.

Huh, weird how that doesn't match up!  I wonder why they didn't work?  It is a mystery!

People are making a mountain out of a molehill because they can't be assed to follow simple printed instructions.  You get whatever you deserve.  Syncing my XBL account with my EA account was simple when I had Dragon Age, and when I loaded up Mass Effect 2, I didn't have to do anything beyond putting in more DLC codes, of which was an exceptionally easy task since all I did was read and follow the printed instructions.

Remember back in the PSO days on the Dreamcast? "I can't get online, what's a DNS? What's an ISP? How I do number? Oh, I need the little dots between the numbers?"

What's the difference between mashed potatoes and your mother?

Batman never had sex with your mother.

EU3:

Sweden, being retarded, declared war on Gottland and Denmark and dragged me into it. Denmark and Gottland are nowhere fucking near me so whatever. However, war makes your people more prone to rebel, and Tver DoW'd Yaroslavl, the bitches. so I get a bunch of rebels popping like capsules all over the place. So I have to deal with them while defending Yaroslavl.

Anyway, long story short, I kill the rebels, conquer Tver, force them to give me a province and become my vassal again.

Think I might cancel the mission to annex Yaroslavl. I don't see myself doing it any time soon.

I didn't bitch, I just tried putting in the code before seeing it wouldn't work, then read the instructions and went to Bioware's site to finish it.

Though, I swear downloads don't seem to particularly like starting when selected from the Cerberus network. I had to start some again because I didn't realize they weren't downloading, and for Zaeed backed out of the game entirely to make it start.

Sweet - I've got DA:O on PS3, and was feeling kinda bummed that I wouldn't be able to get the free armor... that I probably won't even use. :)  Anyone know if it's good?

Eh its ok.  Nothing super special, but I dont think they wanted to make any of it to overpowered.  Despite having the Inferno Armor, Collectors Armor, and Terminus Armor along with it...im using the normal stuff, because you cant modify those armors at all, no removing the helmet, changing the colors.  Granted the helmets are cool compared to the N7 helmets which are meh, and I dont know yet if you get any new ones or not.  Terminus is probably my favorite..I just like the design, just wish I could modify the colors.

I wouldn't mind the helmets if, like Dragon Age, they would come off when talking to people, but since they don't and it's an insolvable issue (on 360 anyways) I've neglected mine, which is really kind of obnoxious after making a big deal about all of these pre-order suits.
