Well, the PSP version of Ys6 came out yesterday.
I'm rather disappointed. The soul of the game is still intact, but it's killed by its loading times and lack of VA. Between each zone, it's 4-8 seconds of loading. It's really kind of shitty, as you'll go through a ton of zones to get somewhere.
Still, it's Ys and it's fun.. just disappointing.

Well at least they didn't mess up the whole game. I still think I'm gonna grab generation of chaos instead of this

No Voice Acting...? NO VOICE ACTING!?!?!?
Damn...thats ridiculous. I was planning on picking this game up, but since I already own the PS2 version (and have beaten it several times), I planned on not doing so. I don't know why the didn't add voice acting...guess it was a money issue or something.
Oh well...good heads up though.

"Yeah....but there is a lot!!"
Thats pretty much a joke from the Simpsons. Homer gets a coupon for two for one pizza at this shop, Lisa says, "But they have terrible pizza", and he responds with, "But theres two!!".
I thought the VA was fine in the PS2 version, though. Of course, I only played it with American VA once...I can't remember how they sound. As for the Japanese VA...well, I can't understand Japanese, so hell would I know if they are bad or not.

Yeah...the loading times were fucking crazy stupid when I played it at E3 last year. I was really hoping that one of the reasons this was delayed so long was because they were trying to fix that, because it seemed like it'd kill the game if it was left unchecked.

I thought Ys VI's dub was a really mixed bag. It ranged from 'decent' to 'unholy blight against the ears'. nevertheless, after hearing the voice acting in the TG-16 version of Ys III, it was a mother fucking godsend. :P

Just out of curiosity, were the load times just as bad on the Japanese PSP release of this game?

That sucks. I am glad that I have the Playstation 2 version instead. I think the load times would quickly become a major problem, though. I would not want to endure multiple long load times while playing a game.

Eh, I've heard worse. Or were you talking about the English track? I know I started the opening cinema and it sounded painfully reminiscent of those really bad 80s English dubs.
I could live without the voice acting if that were the only downgrade, but extra loading times are another story. If I'm going to douple dip, I kind of need a reason to do so, not have two reasons not to do so.
