Too bad I only have one Amano book (I really love his works). I'm trying to look for his FF collection work.

This is one of my favorites though (Versus XIII):

Gotta agree. Amano's concept art isn't SUPPOSED to look like the final renderings, it never was. It's sort of like the line-art style graphics you see for the MGS games... it's a stylized starting point that is used for a lot of box art but isn't actually in the game.

That's actually a good comparison I've never thought of.

It would be cool to see them switch off and have each of them do the opposite game.

No, it would be cool if they just let Nomura go and allow Amano to just switch up styles a lot more.

Multipul styles by Amano > Amano/Namura switchoff.

I want 'em to bring in somebody new. I'm sure there're some really great manga artists out there who'd love to do it. I don't know what fan's reactions were when Nomura came onboard but he seems pretty accepted know.

Not that I don't like some of FFXIII's designs, but Nomura's stuff is getting stale. I guess SE would consider that too much of a gamble right now? Personally, I've been a fan since FFVII and most of my favorite installments are the ones with character designs by Nomura, but I would welcome the change.

Didn't Nomura say that after FFXIII and FFvXIII he'll stop working on Final Fantasy and put his focus on Kingdom Hearts? Doesn't that mean that Sqaure Enix is going to the change the series' character designer?

whats the name of the guy that did the designs for tactics and FFXII? i even prefer his designs to amano's. however i'd like to see amano design characters for a sci-fi type rpg. then you could have a better comparison for the two(amano and nomura). at the very least i would say that nomura designs better female characters.

You're thinking of Akihiko Yoshida.  He's working on Final Fantasy XIV right now, and so he's kinda busy.

He's alright, but I prefer my characters with noses and mid-torsos larger than their thighs.

He can do that.

 This proves it.

I loved everything about it... until I noticed his man panties hangin' out. And Ashley kinda has Seymour Guado hair goin' on in this pic. Think the guy's a great artist.

No self-respecting RPG male should raid Kuja's closet.  And my favorite fanfic writer Mooncalf strikes again (kinda.) http://mooncalf.org/library/parody/wwtomato.html

And upon seeing the man-panties I can't be the only one who thought of the theme song from the I.M. Weasel cartoon.  You know, "you don't need pants for the victory dance..."

With man-panties wedgied between them.  And I just know there's a bad joke about assless chaps just waiting to happen.

You're a man after my own heart.

Out of curiosity, which book do you own? I have the North American print of "Dawn" (FFI~IV art) from Dark Horse Comics. I hope there are more English-language versions of his artbooks coming here. They are much cheaper in our territory. :)

Fairies by Yoshitaka Amano. It was the last copy from a store that was about to be closed down. Although I got it for $30 and that's on sale.

I've been wondering if he has an FFI~FFX artwork book.
