Tales of surprise-rumour

You know that announcement coming up on the 20th? GameFront said something to the effect of it being a Tales of Destiny remake for PlayStation 2 and Tales of the Voice for an unannounced platform as of their writing. Of course, I have absolutely no idea how accurate these guys are, and they might have been the same people who said Tales of Legendia was a GameCube-exclusive Tales of Symphonia sequel with GBA connectivity.

Personally, Im surprised its not another Tales of Phantasia remake.... just kidding (-ish).  Should be interesting no matter the surprise though.  I don't know about you guys, but the news of an announced "surprise" is a thrill to me~

I dunno. While another PlayStation 2 game would make sense economically, they will have to move on to next-gen at some point. Since they have one game in development for the DS with Tales of Tempest and the 360 is supposed to get an original RPG, a new installment for PlayStation 3 or another remake for PlayStation Portable might be a possiblity. If they end up doing a PlayStation Portable game, it would be great, if that game was more than just a straight port.

I'd say the bit of what it could be is worth pointing elsewhere, but I'd have included RPGFan's URL anyway. Not like there's some one URL per post rule or something.

I found what IGN said about the big surprise amusing (listing a bunch of Tales/RPG cliches for guessing what the game'll have), and I'm suspecting it'll ultimately be more of the same general stuff. Though I'll be very surprised if it genuinely is dramatically different. Of course, a ToD remake would definitely fall under that. :P

I would LOVE to see an original Tales title for the PSP, since the DS got one. PS2 has plenty already. PSP needs some love.

Seems silly to call it a 'tales related' surprise. Ok, you're making a new tales game, where's the surprise when you just gave it away? Is SE going to surprise us with FF14 after 13? :P

I guess the Destiny 2 remake is a go. Not sure what ToP "Full voice edition" is. A port of the PSX ToP with full voice acting? Not sure what the TotW title is.

Great, a probably decent PSP port /after/ the GBA one came out here. :P

I'm not holding much hope for any but that T.O.W game, not unless TotA sells  several hundred thousand units or something. I guess ToP would technically be plausible, but I imagine Nintendo has some deal with that, that prevents non-Nintendo versions from coming out, ala ToS.

I have already lost all faith in the Tales series.  Tales of Symphonia, Destiny, and Legendia were some of the worst RPGs I have ever played, and the only Tales titles I thought were above par consisted of just two games (Tales of Phantasia (the original SFC Version), and Tales of Eternia).  

And I am sick of Namco just basically milking the series.  They never really add anything new to the RPG genre, which is something that I think all developers should at least try and do.  But hey, they are in it for the money, so I guess they don't care.

OMG, PSP now gets a port of the PS2 game Tales of Destiny 2, in 2007.  I'm definitely excited, because I've always wanted that game.

Anyway, as for the Tales series, I truly love it.  Although I'd like to see completely new Tales games announced, I'm still happy with what I hear, ToD remake, ToP remake, ToW, and ToD2 port, so it looks like I'll be importing a lot of new Tales games.
