I only get that impression because of the way the trailer was put together. They chose some very discordant scenes, it just didn't seem to mesh together well.

Yeah, not sure about this one. I loved the original with Harry Hamlin. I was pretty young when I first saw it and was freaked out by the whole Medusa sequence. Add in Chimeras, witches, pegasus, greek gods,  not to mention a giant sea monster, and you've got a good time.
I am skeptical.

It looks like it could hold promise, but I am tired of trailers with cuts that last for .00001% of a second.

Uh, not so much dude. The original wasn't intentionally cheesy, it's just that way from our perspective now. If anything, the original was intended to be pretty epic.

You can't tell me that the Clockwork Owl wasn't corny as hell, even when it originally came out.

Even Cedric from King's Quest V was obnoxious as hell (although that one was more for his general uselessness than anything).

I don't know if it was. You have to remember the level of special effects back then. Stop-motion was pretty much the height of things at the time, and Harryhausen was a master of the art. The owl must have been intended as a bit comedic, owing to its obviously dippy nature, but I don't think cheesy was the idea.

Oh God. Him being this movie would actually create hope in me. It doesn't matter how bad the movie is, Diesel is so totally watchable for being such a caricature.
