You're just being cryptic again. It's like soap opera sex. Lots of boring dialogue and when they finally do go to bed, everything's dark and covered by blankets.

Every time I start up a Dragon Quest game I always spend about 20 minutes just deciding on a name for the hero. What are some of the names you've chosen for your Dragon Quest hero? Maybe it'll make it easier for some future players. I chose,

DQ IV - Solo
DQ V - Yupa
DQ VII - Takato
DQ VIII - Clyde

Shadow, or Laguna, is what I usually use for characters that have no default name. Either them, a totally random name, or I use my own name.

Tatsuya.  It's almost always Tatsuya.  I think my DQ4 hero was Kyosuke.

Omar or Hiro. The one time I got to play as a female character, I named her Tacey. I have a weird sense of humour.

I recall sticking with Eusis for the most part. Exception to DQV though, the name in the manga was Abel and I couldn't think of a name that seemed more appropriate.

I use to name all of my RPG characters after whoever the current lead character was in Digimon that year. I think I winded up naming my DQ I hero Masaru or Daimon.

If there is no default, I just use my name (Neal.)  Although with any given Shin Megami Tensei character, I always name the character Yuuya (or Yuuya Narumi.)  Why?  Because though the official Megami Ibunroku Persona manga has the main character named Naoya Toumou, this drama CD I used to have named him Yuuya Narumi and since Yuuya is less recognized than Naoya, I go with Yuuya.  I also use Yuuya if I'm playing any other kind of game where my unnamed avatar is a Japanese male.  If it's an unnamed Japanese female, I go with Sayori since that's my favorite girl's name.  If there are only 4 letter slots for a girl's name, I'll mix around the letters in my name and call her "Nela."

So the names I use: Neal, Yuuya Narumi, Sayori (Kanda is a last name is needed), Nela

If I play a game a second time, I'll use a silly name.  Like the second time I played Persona 3, I named the guy "Studman Studman" because it was funny seeing Mitsuru say stuff like "hey Studman, do you feel like going to Tartarus tonight?"  Or in FF9, I renamed Amarant to Lips so he'd say "some call me The Flaming Lips." (Yes I am secretly 12 years old:P  And The Flaming Lips are an awesome band.)

I think the best name I used for a character was Aloysius in Quest for Glory 2. There's actually some... St. Aloysius School of somethingorother here (it looks like the freaking Alamo) I think it's this thing http://www.stalbg.org/

ANYWAY. Aloysius is a pretty cool name.

(I named my P3 character Aki before I realized there was already a similarly named character. Similarly, naming the MC in devil survivor Yulan* when there was a character called Yuzu got a bit wonky).

* I have this obsession with magnolias, and one of the sub-genuses is Yulania. They're Asian magnolias. Generally bloom before the leaf out. Generally not trees. American magnolias like Virginia and Grandiflora are totally better but questionably hardy here.)
