I've played and play on various European Servers, beeing European myslef and I can say without a doubt taht Scandinavia is obsessed with WoW in every way possible! Swedes, Norweigans, Danish and Dutch come en'masse to play WoW and it's always been like that. Even Ireland, small in size has many many WoW players, as does England Scotland and Wales. I think it's the strong sense of 'lore' in Europe or old Europe that heightens the popularity of such online games, with Vikings, Celts and many other legends playing host to the imagination of numerous European World of Warcraft players.
